New Airline No. 11

CSA to Launch BHX - Prague 5x weekly as of April 2016

From PKs Twitter Feed

:shok:

Bloody hell I thought we were done with Qatar.

Excellent news to see Prague back :good:

Christ on a bike!

Will Pearson and his team have been busy little bees indeed.

At this rate I wouldn't be surprised if there were 15 new airlines by ro the end of 2015, as I'm still confident that Belavia will announce Minsk, and plenty of time to get 3 other curve balls thrown in after that.

it doesn't indeed seem to be a little crazy. I just pray that its not like EDI's recent link via another airport and is direct.

Anyone with access to the schedule able to confirm??

If so, yet more great news:

- another unserved destination re-established
- another new airline and flag carrier
- a decent frequency for business fliers

come march/april, we are going to have some very busy water canons!!!!

WOW!!!
I think this is the one that most of us wanted back for a good while now.Since the demise of BMI Baby,Prague has not been on the departure boards at all.Yet we had 2 airlines on the route previously,CSACzech Airlines being the other one so for them to return is brilliant news.
I just can't believe the strides forward that the BHX route planning and development team have made this past 12 months. We have all criticised at some point but I think we need to take our hats off to them for the work they have put in.
I have to admit that I am really getting excited about the prospects for BHX in the next 12 months or so.Who knows what we will be celebrating next.
Well done to all involved and long may this good news continue :hatsoff: :hatsoff: :yahoo:

I have just had a look through some CSA media pages and it does seem to suggest that flights will be direct but details will be announced in due course. Also this does seem to be part of a larger expansion and re-launch of routes previously served by CSA so I think we will have to wait and see what the official press release says :good:

That's another decent frequency, I thought we may have seen 2/3x weekly to start.

Very happy with this one

CSA Czech Airlines to start Birmingham service

CSA Czech Airlines will launch a Prague-Birmingham route next year.

The Skyteam alliance member will operate a five-times weekly A319 service between the two cities from April 22.

The A319 will be configured in two classes with ten seats in business and 120 in economy.

On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, the CSA Czech flight will arrive in Birmingham at 1700 and leave for Prague at 1740.

On Thursdays, the CSA Czech flight will land in Birmingham at 1850 and depart for Prague at 1930. And on Sundays, the CSA Czech flight will arrive in Birmingham at 2000 and leave for Prague at 2040.

William Pearson, Birmingham airport's aviation development director, said: "Prague is a brand new route from Birmingham so we are delighted that Czech Airlines has confirmed they will launch services from Birmingham and also introduce this key destination for both business and leisure travel, and to connect onwards beyond Prague to Czech Airlines' network."

CSA Czech Airlines resumed direct services to the UK for the first time in five years in July with a Prague-Liverpool service.

Yesterday, Qatar Airways announced it will launch a Dreamliner service between Doha and Birmingham next year

3-3 now between Skyteam and Oneworld

There was me thinking Qatar was the icing on the cake! BHX really is on a roll at the moment! I wonder it anyone else is coming to join the party?

Conformation on the Czech Airlines website.

Moreover, Czech Airlines plans to launch regular scheduled services to Malta, Reykjavík, Birmingham, Sarajevo, Skopje, Zagreb, Kaliningrad, Kazan, Ufa, Minsk and Odessa with effect from the start of the 2016 summer season.

Towards the bottom it says that KEF and MLA will be seasonal and the other routes will be 'based on the development in demand' and BHX will be up to 5x weekly, so I'd imagine the frequency may drop during the quieter periods.

Also the BHX press release.

Czech Airlines Announces Birmingham-Prague from April 2016

Czech Airlines has become the eleventh new airline this year to announce that it will launch flights from Birmingham Airport.

Commencing flights to Prague five times a week from April 2016, the flag carrier for the Czech Republic will deliver an additional 50,000 passengers through the airport a year and open up more connections through Eastern Europe.

William Pearson, Birmingham Airport’s Aviation Development Director, said: “Prague is a brand new route from Birmingham so we are delighted that Czech Airlines has confirmed they will launch services from Birmingham and also introduce this key destination for both business and leisure travel, and to connect onwards beyond Prague to Czech Airlines’ network.”

The schedule, commencing on Friday 22nd April 2016, will be as follows:

Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays: arrive into Birmingham 1700 and depart Birmingham 1740.

Thursdays: arrive into Birmingham at 1850 and depart at 1930

Sundays: arrive into Birmingham at 2000 and depart at 2040

The five weekly flights will be operated by an Airbus A319 aircraft, with a 10 business class and 120 economy cabin configuration.

Mr Pearson added: “We know from CAA data that 30% of the passengers travelling to Prague from our one hour catchment travel for business reasons so we’re pleased that Czech Airlines will offer business class on the route.”

WOW, this is more great news.

Me and Ray were nearly correct in saying we think our 10th new airline was CSA or Qatar, never did we think it would be both.

I think another bottle of "fizz" needs to be opened.

Be careful or you'll be too pixilated to enjoy the flights. :drinks:

It's certainly wonderful news for BHX and its region. :good:

Go on, whats your two ??????

Mine is going to be CSA or a middle eastern/gulf carrier (anything from Turkey to Saudi Arabia) but dunno which one, LOL

Same as you mate, if it's short haul I reckon Czech or Smart Wings to Prague, if it's long haul I reckon either Qatar or Saudi.

I think we should both buy Lottery tickets for the weekend 😉

You two got any other predictions?! 🙂

Im gonna go for the Palma route from Vueling followed by new routes from Norweigan but not a base announcement yet.

As for a new airline, im going to go for Finnair to Helsinki x 4 weekly.

indeed... £58 one way or £116 rtn... not shockingly cheap but similar price to other airports

Timings on Sunday and Monday seem to have been changed.
In @1230 and out @ 1310.

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?

I don't believe I am quite covering enough roles at work. Its now 4 on a bad day, 5 on a good day and there is scope for a 6th and 7th role. Still on minimum pay but had the biggest payrise in the company,
