I have seen no advertising away from the airport. I know the route doesn't begin until May but people will already be looking to book their summer flights and WOW needs to be in the minds of the local public.

I saw 'my' first WOW advertisement away from the airport today. It was on an advertising hoarding on the Bath Road near The Paintworks creative quarter.

Saw an advert for WOW on the side of a First Bristol bus today in the city.

WOW air have released their Winter 16-17 flight programme from Bristol.

Flights will operate twice weekly on Mondays and Fridays with an 1100 dep. from BRS, I suspect the reduction from the thrice weekly for Summer 16 will be partly due to EasyJet's plan to operate flights to Reykjavík in Winter 16-17.

However good to see they plan to stick around, will interesting to see how the loads fair throughout the Summer.

Certainly very good news.

At least 4 x weekly to Keflavik/Reykjavík (across both airlines) is a lot of seats even in winter when the route seems more popular. Against that, transatlantic scheduled is never as popular in winter than in summer from the UK so 2 x weekly for WOW is probably a good compromise between a potentially busy point to point route and perhaps less buoyant transatlantic connectivity.

Great news, competition on the route and continued opportunity for transatlantic travel. Personally I think Iceland in the Winter is much better than in the Summer. Whilst daylight at midnight is interesting, hotel prices in winter are 4x cheaper than Summer and you get a more authentic icey visit. I love the place and would go back again tomorrow if I could. I'm not surprised that it remains popular over the winter.

Many thanks for that insight, BRSregular.

Iceland does sound a fascinating place to visit.

The other half wants to go there to bathe in the hot spars. I said Nuffield Health is nearer. :woot: Seriously though, it looks nice. I'd want to go volcano watching with the daughter who's volcano mad.

was looking at the flight prices on the brs website, and they look very good. all flights via iceland, but that is not a problem.did orlando a few years ago with a fuel stop in gander,on a tristar from gatwick.one section was 4 hours and the other section was 4 hrs 30 mins, which was good as stretched legs. so flights to america/canada with a stop is very good in my book.

I've now seen lots of these adverts on Bristol buses in recent weeks but they don't seem to emphasise the name of the airline.

They mention flying to North America (showing various destinations there) via Iceland but the airline name is relatively low key in the adverts and could easily be mistaken as being part of the advert, ie, Wow (in the sense of 'look this is good'), an airline is going to start flying to America from Bristol. A passing glance at the advert on a moving bus does not instantly convey the identity of the airline.

Would the airline know which aircraft they were using this far ahead? I hope the date is not inauspicious.

It's an unfortunate name for an airline, not very distinctive. I am also constantly being spammed by Air France with special long-haul offers which are advertised under a 'WOW deals' brand ..

I mentioned the other day that the WOW adverts on Bristol buses are not very distinct in terms of the airline.

Most plan 2-4 weeks in advance but chances are it will change up until the night before, sometimes 2 hours before departure.

Mayfly for next week is showing the first WOW rotation on Friday 13 May as an A 321. I thought the A 320 was going to be the type on BRS-KEF.

I've often heard of airlines upgrading for an inaugural flight. Hopefully this is down to strong forward bookings (y)

Mayfly for next week (wc 9 May) is showing the first WOW rotation on Friday 13 May as an A 321. I thought the A 320 was going to be the type on BRS-KEF.

Next week's Mayfly (wc 16 May) is showing all three WOW rotations (Mon, Wed and Fri) on an A 321.

I'd like to think it was demand driven. easyJet is still operating to KEF until next month when it will take a summer break so, unless the connecting transatlantic services have had some sensational bookings, it may just be a case of aircraft availability.

I thought WOW only operated the A321.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
