I thought WOW only operated the A321.

The airport press release (24 November last year) stated this about the aircraft: A320 aircraft will operate the Bristol to Reykjavik flight with single-class A321 and A330-300 aircraft operating the routes between Iceland and North America.

WOW's website says they have four A320s.

Thanks big g. I take it you mean Friday. Mayfly is still showing an A 321 for that day but there is a recent history of showing the wrong type on Mayfly as we found when the TOM B 757 morphed in to a B 787.

Sorry yes Friday, I'm not sure if the Mayfly is generated off the ACL schedule allocations or if someone manually updates it.

The mayfly still says A321 but I have been told *cough* that its an A320. I will be airside again to take some photos for publicity for my group and I will post on here later.

The inaugural WOW A 320 from Keflavik landed at 1115, 65 minutes late. It departed more or less on time at midday. There was a large crowd of spotters/photographers at Winters Lane at the western end of the airfield. The aircraft landed and took off in an easterly direction on 09.

I wasn't aware of a water cannon salute although I'll happily be corrected on that.

It was a busy day today with around 25 arrivals in the just under two hours that I was there. A look at the BRS website shows 101 arrivals in the 24 hours of Friday 13 May not counting the Airbus and BAE corporate shuttles.

On Friday 13th May the first WOW air flight landed at Bristol Airport, Airbus A320 TF-BRO arrived to a welcome party of Jane Austen and Isambard Brunel, I was able to go airside once again and wanted to share these photos with you:

Crikey, Isambard has put on a few feet in height since he was last around.

Looking at the seat selector on the Keflavik route, not very well. Monday was around a third full and Wednesday is less. However, a check with the Gatwick-Keflavik route suggests they aren't doing very much better. That being so I'm wondering how accurate WOW's seat selector is.

easyJet is still operating BRS-KEF (until early June when it takes a break until the end of October this year) and its next flight (on Thursday) is already showing over 100 occupied seats on the seat selector.

We shan't be able to establish WOW's load factors until the July figures because easyJet doesn't finish until 9 June.

It would be interesting to know how many had started their journey in North America, not that we ever will I suppose unless the airline gives an indication in the future of the general trend.

looks like todays flight has picked up a 9hour delay.dont know if its a knock on,tech or air traffic delays.it will make a long day for all concerned and even longer for transfer pax.

Wasn't there weather delays on the East Coast of the US earlier? Maybe the aircraft got delayed in the US? Is the route proving successful with US traffic?

The WOW from Keflavik flew past my house which about seven miles from BRS nearly half an hour ago. FR 24 shows it as a WOW A320, TF-BRO. It will be landing around nine hours and 35 minutes late. Last Friday this service was over eight hours late.

I've looked at all the WOW KEF departures for today and none of the others is showing any sort of delay worthy of the name.

I've been looking at Skytrax since the WOW route was announced - it's now been running at BRS for three months - and unfortunately the airline is regularly slated by passengers. I know that with the likes of Skytrax the old saying have a good experience and you might tell someone; have a bad experience and you will tell ten people has to be borne in mind but the reports are now so consistently bad that a pattern has emerged. Of the last 20 reports on Skytrax (going back to early July) 16 scored 1 out of 10, 3 scored 2 out of 10 and 1 scored 7 out of 10.

The complaints revolve largely around delays, missed connections and general lack of help from staff with on occasions no-one available at all at airports to assist passengers when problems occur.

I don't know if anyone outside the airline or airport knows how the route is progressing. Anecdotal 'evidence' suggests that raw numbers are good but how many go on to North America is anyone's guess. easyJet operated the route until early June and return on 2 October so the first full month with WOW alone is July. By the time the CAA publishes that month's figures A 380s will probably be being retired on the grounds of obsolescence.

By coincidence I walked through the main check-in area at BRS around 1015 today and noticed a big queue checking in for the WOW flight. I don't know at what stage the passengers became aware of the delay. The departure boards at the airport were merely telling passengers to check in. The arrivals boards which would have given some passengers a clue - already showing a hefty delay to the inbound - are away from the check-in area.

I feel desperately sorry for them. They won't get to Keflavik until after midnight, will have missed their transatlantic connections and there might not be room for them all on tomorrow's flights. If reports on Skytrax are typical the passengers might have an uncomfortable night at KEF to endure.
