Lapworth Museum of Geology
My girlfriend and I visited this on Saturday afternoon and we were very impressed indeed.
It's located on the campus of the University of Birmingham. It's open seven days a week, entry is free as is car parking (at least at weekends).
Although relatively small, the collections (both fossils and rocks) are extensive and most have been found from the West Midlands area. We thought that three hours would be plenty of time to see everything. We were wrong and will be going back to have a look at the sections that we had to skim through.
The museum has recently been refurbished and is a Finalist in the Art Fund Museum of the Year 2017.

It is well worth a visit and I think that kids would enjoy it too.

Did I just see in TV that the England under 20 world cup winning team returned to BHX? Is this the start of something?

Well done to them. Excellent. KRO boys.

If you mean England teams using Bhx possibly. If you mean winning THE World Cup no.:)
The former, which to be honest about I am more excited about whether BHX could be come the airport of choice for our wonderful sports stars.

Of course unlikely that we will see an England Men's World Cup winning side for anyone over 20. The Ladies on the other hand....

Lovely scenes. Where exactly in Birmingham is this?

Lovely scenes. Where exactly in Birmingham is this?

It is known as Eastside City Park to the east of the city centre, LOL
Living in the middle of a city, it is an oasis of lovelyness. The photo i have posted gives you an indication of where it is located however even that photo is out of date, Birmingham is changing fast.

Thank you. Impressive cityscape even though it has changed since the picture was taken - for the better, I trust, even though what I see in the picture looks good.

Have now seen the updated image.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
