Yes the courtline scheme was good to look at but a definite knock off from braniff.

Our honeymoon was at the time of courtlines demise and the resort was deserted as most of the hotels were tied to them via Clarkson's who courtline had taken over a couple of years earlier.

Luckily we were with M.A.T.O (Midland Air Tour Operators ) which became part of Horizon then Thomson now TUI.

MATO, a development from Deadly Doug's Ellis Tours.

My mother still has a maroon plastic ticket wallet from ET when they were a travel agent rather than tour operator.

Must see if Doug want's to buy it back!!

I saw Vulcans display many times. It was always awesome and it's characteristic howl is unforgettable.
In my teens, when the Cosford airshow was on we had a couple of occasions of the Vulcan holding over our house in Bloxwich whilst awaiting it's display slot.
Here are a few of my photos of XH558 taken more recently at Duxford -

Off to Duxford on Sunday for the flying legend's show. Weather forecast isn't looking great though :(

Deadly would only buy it back if he could turn a profit, did a good job at Villa in my view and that's from a bluenose.
Any reason your mothers wallet is maroon (claret ).

Hi wolfeze, the schemes certainly are distinctive. Never seen them in real life. I understand that they introduced an innovative in-flight catering regime which I am sure would not pass modern food hygiene regs.

Nothing from the 60's and 70's would pass modern regs. That's why we don't visit the Moon anymore, build aircraft like Concorde and take twice as long to make a 3 lane road into 4 lanes than it did to build the thing in the first place.
I guess thats progress:(

According to the BBC weather report, it's looking fair for Duxford on both Saturday and Sunday. So hope you have a great day.
Up until last year (and for many years), I was a 'Friend of Duxford' but let my membership lapse when pre-booking became compulsory. I was also put off by the closure of the 'tank bank' for viewing.
I live just 20 minutes drive away. In the past, I was able to leave it as late as 11.30 am before looking out of the window and deciding whether to go or not.

Thanks for the encouraging weather update! I know what you mean about the pre booking of tickets, I haven't been myself since it was introduced but decided not to deprive myself the sound of merlins, double wasps, griffons etc any more. Another thing that I was starting to find irritating was the proliferation of windbreaks along the crowd line

Only the champagne procession to go, but barring a crash, Chapeau Chris Froome. Fully deserved. Great champion and downright gentlemanly sportsman.

Won't know what to do each evening for an hour after 3 weeks of the cycling.

Fantastic film of Solihull. It would have been even better going down High Street to see how much of a change there has been there. I still remember the Army & Navy store that was on the corner (roughly where the Touchwood entrance is now) and ploughing your way through the queues for the buses (now that I don't miss). Solihull was a haven for me (I got sick of Birmingham Centre after going through the place twice a day on my way to school) so Solihull offered a different place for me to explore entirely. Now when you look at Solihull and see how many coffee shops there are in such a comparatively small area it makes you yearn for the simpler days (unless it's just me in which case I apologise)!

Know what you mean. Used to love Solihull back in the day. Elizabeth the chef pizzas, discovery records, Beatties and the snooty fox (y).
What really struck me about the film was the lack of traffic, lode lane was almost deserted. It was obviously Sunday but it would not be like that now.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. The news items can then be shared on the site homepage by you. #TakePart #Forums4airports Bring the news to one place!
survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
