Ah wolfheze, Wardair. I used to go to see their DC10 and later their B747 on their weekly flight into Newcastle. Great days there with many spotters staying for both landing and take-off no matter what the delays!

Yup, we scored on 83 minutes and my first thought was there's still more than enough time to nause it up. It's just a shame that Sunderland also grabbed a win.

Bring on Reading :)

Told you the dog would sort it?

Believe that and you and you will believe anything but great result, stand by to be let down on Tuesday dog trying to recruit the Peaky Blinders to sort out the problems might be our best hope as otherwise I fear the worst

I used to think that the satellite photos in Google Maps were an accurate snapshot until I looked at their photos the west side of the airport today. Either all the pilots were drunk after a New Year's eve or Google has gone round adding planes at random positions for some reason. Two look as is they are heading for taxiway collision whilst two appear to have already collided!

Bit bored at the moment so just wandering who is the most famous person you have met, a few years ago we were waiting to return home from a holiday in the Caribbean and at the airport I noticed people making a fuss over a smartly dressed gentleman and after a double take realised it was Sir Garfield Sobers just had to shake his hand and tell him he was the greatest cricket all rounder ever, bet he'd never heard that before.
On our recent holiday Jimmy James of the Vagabonds was performing on the ship and next day we bumped into him a real nice guy and can still do the business on stage also even though it's not my sort of music.

Told you I was bored.

In my teenage years, as a member of the Air Training Corps (425 SQN Aldridge), I embarked on a Duke of Edinburgh Award (which I never completed). Part of this includued us building a hovercraft, which the Squadron displayed at Bingley Hall Stafford as part of some Duke of Edinburgh event. My Dad (having a Ford Granada 2.3 V6 with tow bar) offered to transport the hovercrraft to the venue. So myself, several of my fellow cadets and my Dad got to meet, shake hands and chat with HRH Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh (my Dad told me that he also trod on HRH's toe:eek:).
On our way home, we noticed that the hovercreft had started to move on it's trailer. We pulled over to fix it and as we were doing so, HRH Prince Philip's car (with Police escort) passed us. Prince Philip smiled and waved to us.
A few years later, as a student at (what was then) Trent Polytechnic, the Student Union had booked Bernie Marsden's 'Alaska' for a concert (Bernie Marsden was the guitarist with Whitesnake, throughout what I consider to be their best years). I volunteered to help with the moving of equipment and had a great chat with Bernie after the show. He is a wonderful, gentle souled person and took time to listen.
Back to school, and in the year below me was Clifford Joseph Price, now better known as 'Goldie' (obviously, he wasn't famous then).
When doing my A levels at Walsall College, a freind introduced me to someone saying 'this is Kevin Rowland of Dexy's Midnight Runners'. I've never discovered if he attended Walsall College, although he was from the area. He would also have been around 10 years older than me.

Nice post Kevin it's good to have nice memories, somehow I forgot to mention that back in the 1970s my father in law to be had a party and several of the Blues player's were in attendance (I think they called it training in those days ) at some point I walked into a side room and a young man was sat on the floor watching Match of the Day while the rest of the players were enjoying themselves, it was the best player the Blues have ever had by a mile. I'm sure all bluenoses can guess who and to this day I regret not having the courage to say hello, also with him was a young lady called Helen who he later married who sadly passed away last year.

P.S. on a different note the dog says last night's game was a walk in the park and looks to add more bite to the team.

As a trainee kitchen salesman back in about 1975 i was talking to a young couple in the showroom and taking
particular interest in the young lady who was gorgeous. When i popped back into the office i was asked "What
is he like?" Who? I replied. Your'e talking to Trevor Francis I was rebuked. Oh I'd only noticed his girlfriend!!!
and I was a football nut as well, mind you a Villa fan of course!!

Following on from Ianbutty's -

And the Villa? Well and truly Fry'd

Surely, Flymetothemoon you mean 'bit emBarrysing though'.

No, I'm not taking sides. I'd like to see all West Mids clubs doing well in cups and the leagues. It would be great for the region if there were several clubs vying for top places in the Premiership and competing in Europe.

Dog has been offered a job as England cricket manager it's not sure what to do as it says why do I get all the duff jobs.

Terrible tour an embarrassment but at least things are looking up at the Blues.

Hi there Ray and all, Happy New Year to all. I was reading on another website that Sir Richard Branson possibly owns the land on and around Bhx, is there any truth in this... AndyC

No idea.

I was under the impression that the airport company have been steadily buying the surrounding land over the last few years but I couldn't say for definite.

In the 1980's there was a rumour that Branson /Virgin were to buy the old Blues training ground in Damson Lane which was close to where Solihull Moors are now with a view to developing the land for housing but nothing came of it, last time I drove past it the old ground was just an overgrown field.

I think it was reported in the Evening Mail but I can't find anything in their archives.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
