I'm a secondary school teacher so for me, I have been at home using online ways to 'teach'. It has it's challenges but most students are keen to carry on with work which I am delighted to see. Especially for their mental wellbeing too. I am in for one day during the Easter holidays as I volunteered. We have apparently 2-5 students which isn't too many out of 1800. Stay safe all.

I'm another of the retirees and, at least at present, have little problem filling my time. Unfortunately my partner has a rather "over-active" mind and she refuses to go out during normal hours - and to keep the peace I agree - and so we go for a walk at 5.45 in the morning! We're out for an hour and so manage about 3 miles. The advantage there is listening to the blackbirds singing as we leave and to the dunnocks as we return. Watching the sunrise is also a bonus.
The garden is starting to look far neater but there is still a lot of work to be done and I just hope the garden waste collection continues to be done - I'll find out tomorrow.
Plenty of housework to be done and then I may try some baking if the flour lasts.
Take care and keep safe, that way we'll see this through.
There is a fantastic group of local volunteers who do our shopping and the bakers also deliver. We are so lucky to live where we do.

Hi Scottiedog, I can agree about the morning chorus, I live out of town the usual birdsong appears amplified so much that I have to rise because sleep is disrupted so much I need medication earlier than is normal. And my adorable dog wants out to do her business. No road vehicle noise, no overflights for Bride Norton or BHX sadly.

There is normally one noisy sod that likes to rev the bolts from his Porche but he too is silent ( always a silver lining ) !

'including at least one 10-15 mph walk each week. '

That would absolutely smash the Olympic speed-walking TheLocalYokel if you can keep that performance going until next year ;)
I said I'm pretty fit. Should have read one 10-15 mile walk each week.

I must admit I have good days and bad days, yesterday was a bad day as I was grouchy all day and felt so tired which is strange as I am not doing half of what I would normally do, even my work is quiet whilst working from home. Feeling a bit worried about this obviously but if I need to get paid 80%, then I will need to get paid 80%.

My workplace is totally shut down as I work in an office block in Birmingham City Centre. It's weird and not very nice especially when you live in a big city that is always busy and then when you go on your walk the place is literally closed down, it kind of puts you off going for your walk. Cities are only nice places when they are busy, living in a city that is closed is kind of depressing. They were even boarding up the entrances to the Selfridges building today, obviously to stop people breaking in. So sad to see stuff like this, it makes me sad.

Was a bit worried yesterday as I had heard tiredness is a sign of possible Coronaviurus but today I felt great with lots of energy and no other symptoms. Even did a home workout lasting for 60 minutes which always makes me feel better. :)

I am just finding it a bit hard with anxiety, not knowing when this nightmare will finish and what the other side will look like. And I have stopped putting the news on as much as that is not good for your mental health.

Mobile phone is on overdrive and being charged more often thanks to Houseparty, Zoom and even them are starting to get on my nerves, lol. I have to turn the internet off on my phone sometimes and then I can be left in peace, he he he.

But yes I have found the supermarkets are well stocked again with even items such as Bread, Milk, Bakes Beans and Toilet Rolls back in supply.

At least we still have the forums and Youtube to keep us entertained.

Apart from mention in above previous posting, I find the current situation normal and not a problem to me as I have been isolated for the past twenty years, due mainly because of my medical condition and it's consequentials.

I have learnt from experience not to rely too much upon people as they frequently let one down, even innocently. I am not needing social interaction and do not feel the need, disabilities frighten some people and I tire of explaining to the glazed over eyes belonging to the person that 'need's to know why I have no social activities.

Life seems tough now but really, it is what you make of the situation and remember that it is temporary and necessary for the greater good. Please remain positive and enjoy a stiffener.

My oldest is in her first year of secondary school and I am really surprised at how much work she has done. Every morning she gets the laptop on the go and just gets on with it. I'll take her a drink and snack every so often and usually have to tell her when to stop. Compare that to my youngest and he is the complete opposite, trying anything to get out of writing (he loves Maths) and go out to play football instead :)

My good lady wife is still working but only on sporadic days. I think the most they have had is three children but there have been days when none had turned up so they've just headed home.

It's tough at the moment but we are always here for a virtual chinwag, although I agree not quite the same as face to face interaction it's something :)

I have also stopped watching the news as, quite frankly, it was beginning to scare the life out of me.

With the kids schoolwork and other duties around the house I have been a bit lazy when it comes to exercise so I'm going to take a leaf out of Scottie Dog's book and head out for a walk as soon as I wake up.

Thanks Mate :)

Forgot to say what a great turnout from my street at 8pm tonight.

More people than last week outside clapping and banging pots and pans with a few houses setting off fireworks. It almost bought a tear to my eye.

Family stuff - retired living in Surrey - 3 sons 2 of whom live abroad , Hong Kong and Sydney. We do worry about them
Sad stuff - we lost a friend to the virus yesterday
Trivia stuff - not much happening at BHX or the construction webcams. Managed to book a Tesco delivery for 23rd April
stay safe

As the current emergency continues and may become a long term event, is it not time to test the airport authorities and lobby for a live webfeed to help keep the area clear of enthusiasts and maintain social distance and keep infection in check?

I would love it given my problem getting to the airfield in person.

Things can get difficult if the government decided gentle advice does not penetrate and chooses State of Emergency and that could mean tougher legal controls , I recall the Heath government and the battle with the militants leading to some very difficult limits to ordinary life.

Personal freedom or the lives of many? The choice is a simple and easy one!

One was stranded abroad and somehow managed to get back in to Brum last Sunday. After experiencing the hardship and seeing the devastation this virus is causing its unbelievable how ignorant some people still can be. The lockdown period is most likely to be extended.

Sounds like quite an ordeal.

Glad that you are back safely :)

Be wary of youknowwhoair. They are enticing passengers to change their flights to the summer peak...at greater cost....so the passenger makes the choice and youknowwhoair do not have to compensate on the premise that the passenger has made the choice!

If you have booked with them, probably be aware and do not fall for this scam and wait for them to cancel. It will cost you otherwise.
They are probably not the only airline to pull.such a con trick

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. The news items can then be shared on the site homepage by you. #TakePart #Forums4airports Bring the news to one place!
survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
