I always think Birmingham shouldn't be separated from the Midlands, You can visit Coventry two Catherdrals, Warwick Warwick Castle, Cannock Chase, Stourbridge, Ironbridge, Black Country Museum, 6 of 92 English Football League Grounds plus more

One for the aircrew amongst us. Why do the window blinds have to be up when landing or taking off?
I'm not aircrew, but I believe that it's to do with your eyes adjusting to the natural light, so that in an emergency your sight is already used to the conditions. The same applies to cabin lights being dimmed for take off and landing in the dark.

Not aircrew of any sort but I was once told by a cabin crew member that in case of emergency where swift evacuation is required they need to be able to see outside the aircraft for any signs of fire. Obviously they wouldn't want to be evacuating pax on any side that may be burning and getting rows of startled pax to raise the blinds wastes valuable time.

As said I'm not aircrew so am more than happy to be corrected, there may be other reasons too.

The BBC are running are looking for photos on the theme of aviation for their news website. This week the theme was waterfalls and details of how to submit anything to do with aviation are at the end of this article. Of course stylish photos are in order not just at an airport but I have seen on this forum and others some spectacular skyline and plane photos.

Too cloudy today in sunny Essex today to photo the usual web of contrails!

Be careful what you give to the BBC, their disclaimer is written so as to deny you of any benefit arising from the eventual use of such material given. AND can be used against you if used for journalistic purposes should you fall foul of any laws. Squeeky clean does not cut it, give the mainstram media anything, they have got you and forty years in the future you do something of interest to them, they can recycle material perhaps not to your best interest.

No charge!

I’ve got my dads view .Thanks for Offering

So who is going to BHX on sunday to se the A380 and Saudia ?

I might go, think the weather looks ok too and not too hot which is perfect ;-)

I got a busy weekend coming up but I'll try and make a diversion to Sheldon Country Park or possibly car park 5.

Hopefully we'll get some cracking pictures posted on here :)

Just curious last year I flew from LHR to JFK on a BA 777-300ER G-STBG which had the newer IFE Screens but my dad complained he couldn't hear his due to what I can only assume was the air system Which I heard to. We were sat on the left hand side behind the wing near to the back there was a few more rows of 3-4-3 then I think 3-3-3 then 2-3-2. I think It was row 38 or 42. Anyway flying back we flew on a BA 777-200ER G-VIIS I think or VIIK not sure this time in the middle I sat in the middle my stepmum in the aisle my dad in the other middle seat and a stranger next to my dad. This one had the old IFE as it has the Remotes and it seemed the air system or whatever it was that you can hear constantly during a flight was quieter despite the plane being older. Is it that the 777-200ER has the air/ac quieter could have it been the Engine noise or is it maybe that maybe BA Newer IFE isn't that good or that G-STBG has a louder air system and maybe flying in July made it work harder this was a week or two before the UK hit the 40's around the time of Wimbledon and British GP. I think it was about 26 degrees on the Sunday before we flew out in London

After reading some recent posts it seems as if we have several people on here with ties to the Walsall area so I thought I'd post this Ryanair video, skip forward to around 8:00 for some great views whilst circling overhead :)

I'm off to try and dry out from a very soggy week in Cornwall.

It is sunny down in west Cornwall and hardly a cloud in sky this afternoon
Just hope it stays like that at end of month as we are down on Lizard which
always seems to get better weather

What on Earth has this got to do with Birmingham Airport?

In fairness it was a bit of a mixed bag in Bude where we were. A few days of driving rain with some more pleasant weather in between. Still had a great time :)

Hope it's nice at the end of the month, Lizard is a beautiful part of the world (y)

Would your username have anything to do with this? (please don't answer if you're not comfortable doing so).

My mom moved to St Agnes on the North Coast and when we visited we would go to Helston (Mullion)to visit her friends very happy times.

In a vain attempt to add aviation content, near St Agnes there was a small airfield towards Perranporth which I on the cliff tops mostly gliders which funnily enough I visited.

Might get told off but at least it's the random thread. 🤷

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. The news items can then be shared on the site homepage by you. #TakePart #Forums4airports Bring the news to one place!
survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
