TUI have so many leased planes at present why are they so short. Two ES-reg 320s ott one behind the other earlier both with TOM call signs.
At least 4 Sunwings,Titan, Avion Wings and more

TUI's summer timetable needs a total of 74 aircraft, the TUI Airways actual current fleet consists of 62 aircraft (will be 63 shortly)

the leased in aircraft for summer should be 15, 7 Sunwing 738's, 4 Avion Express A320's, 2 Titan A320's & 2 Smartlynx A320's

The bases are as follows:-

ABZ 1 B738, Sunwing
BFS 1 B738, Sunwing
BHX 1 B789, 2 B788's, 3 B7M8's, 3 B738s, & 2 B738's, Sunwing
BOH 1 B738
BRS 5 B7M8's
CWL 2 B738's, 1 B738, Sunwing
DUB 2 A320's, Avion Express
EMA 4 B738's, 1 B738, Sunwing
EXT 1 B738
GLA 2 B7M8's
GLA/NCL 1 B788 shared
LGW 2 B789's, 1 B788's, 3 B7M8's, 6 B738's, 1 A320, Titan, 2 A320's, Avion Express
LTN 1 B738
MAN 2 B789's, 2 B788's, 2 B763's, 3 B7M8's, 5 B738's, 2 A320's, Smartlynx
NCL 2 B7M8's, 2 B738's
NWI 1 B738, Sunwing
STN 1 B738, 1 A320, Titan

Spare TUI Aircraft, 2 B738, 1 B789

They also have another B738 to join the fleet shortly, G-FDZR again. G-TUKO B738 is current at Lasham for maintenance , G-TUID B788 is current flying for TUI Netherlands out of AMS

However they are now using the following extra aircraft:- a Getjet B738, BHX, a Getjet A320, LGW & a Privilege Style B752 also at LGW, which can only be down to lack of TUI crew.

Cheers Matt,

That's an astonishing number of leased in planes must be costing rather a fortune .

Only they've ill know why they didn't take their last B789 TUIP which was ready for them in their colours in the USA.

They then sent a 787 to TUI Belguim and moved another SE-RFZ to Manchester.

Can we speculate the severe delays to the B737MAX 10 programme has also impacted there available fleet ?

If you look at the whole TUI Fleet of aircraft then search them on FR24 across the different divisions not including 737-700's or E190's they have plenty of Spare Aircraft they can use if it is an Aircraft Shortage if it is a Crew Shortage they should do a Recruitment drive. I think the Netherlands has two Spare Dreamliners and the Dutch, Belgium and German divisons have lots of spare MAX8's and regular 737-800's

I very much doubt any aircraft are 'spare' this time of the year.

Well on FR24 it says No flights found

no idea what your on about, the TUI German/Belgium/Netherlands fleet of aircraft are all curently operating daily, I think they do only have 1 Max at Brussels and 1 788 at Luton for maintenance.

Next year willl be interesting as WestJet have now taken over Sunwing, so none of their 737s will be operated by TUI next summer, and having already indicated we wil get an extra aircraft next summer at BHX, looked like we maybe seeing more Avion Express/SmartLynx A320s, and ever GetJet 738s next year, hopefully TUI wil also have a few more Max's in there fleet too.

I did track them last week to be honest so they may be Tracking now.

Any one have any infromation how long GetJet will be operating their 738 out of of BHX for? Will it be all summer now? currently we have 2 TUI 738s parked up today at BHX, why cant one of these aircraft operate instead of the Getjet 738? It does now looks like TUI have decided to base their spare 738's at BHX, I guess Birmingham being in the middle of the UK, it makes sense, so they can position them to anther UK airports if required easier, with less positioning flight time required!

Not enough UK crews!

Going to be even more interesting next summer.

Their B767s so this Oct, Sunwing contract ends as WestJet are taking the airline over.

No more new 787s being taken, and a requirement for another 4 narrowbody units for their expanding programme in the UK next summer.

😲😲

Good to see things with TUI looking more settled now with the GetJet 737 having left as per Matt995. Just Sunwings operating alongside TUI's aircraft as planned although there still seems a fair few positioning flights over the last few days mostly to/from Manchester or Gatwick but also Cardiff and Norwich, presumably they are planned although today a 737H positioned out to Cardiff in the early hours to be replaced around) 07:30 by another 737H from Gatwick.

Anyway good to see things on a more even keel, just waiting for the French air traffic controllers to mess things up any day now.

Current TUI Summer Flights 2024

First the goods news, and TUI will indeed be basing an extra aircraft at BHX taking it up to 12 airframes

Now, the bad news, as mentioned Almeria (x2) has been dropped, along with 1 Orlando flight.

The other bad news is one of the B788s will be based else where, so we will only have 1 B789 & 1 B788 doing a mix of short and long haul flying.

The base will therefore be:- 1 B789, 1 B788, 2 A320's (presumably Avion Express or Smart Lynx), and 8 737s (mix of B738's and Maxs)

all the other flights will be on the 737.

We can however expect more tweeks and changes before Summer 2024 starts!!

Might have been tempted for a trip to Kos next year on a Dreamliner but given the terrible on time performances so far this summer (and we haven’t reached the peak season yet) I’m not filled with much confidence.

The problem is TUI have got into a strange pickle.

Bizarrely not taking 789 TUIP which was awaiting delivery too them in their colours.

With the other widebodies (the 763s) going this winter they would be short of high capacity planes for any further expansion.

Matt do they plan to lease in more widebodies next summer otherwise they can at best only tread water on long haul ??

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
