TUI seem to have dropped Izmir for summer 2025, no Wednesday or Saturday flight, so leaves a new gap in the Wednesday schedule, Saturdays "gap" will be taken by the Reus rotation.

I think the SunExpress Izmir flights will be used instead by TUI.

The Summer TUI Dublin base was mean't to be 2 Fly4 B738s, but have now been replaced by Air Explore, so might we see Fly4 back at BHX again this Summer operating for TUI?

Fly4 is returning this summer with recruitment still on going with AAP and a focus on BHX this year , TUI was recruiting for Birmingham but ended the recruitment drive. Currently Ascend airways is staying at LGW with 6 aircraft (Was confirmed with me personally when i attended the assessment day a few months ago) but it all is subject to change.

Matt .Looking at a random date on 14/09
There’s a flight saying Other carrier with arrival 8.50am and departure at 9.50am.
Is this a possibility it’s Freebird airlines.

It’s not jet2 tui or easyjet and sun express.

Ant I don't expect any new long haul from TUI for next year, I presume the 787 will be used on extra short haul flying.

It makes no sense to send a 787 on long haul for 24 hours, only operating 2 flights, when in the same time frame it could do 4 or even 6 short haul rotations instead

600 passengers on long haul, or 1200 passengers at least on short haul? which flights will make more money for TUI I wonder?

And the big question, if they can absorb Orlando into MAN/LGW, will they absorb all the other TUI long haul routes ?

They have recently closed the long haul base at Brussels, I fear BHX could be next ?
The very fact that the BHX-MLB pax can be absorbed into the LGW/MAN-MLB FLIGHT without any additional capacity being added to either route suggests more about how poor MLB as a destination is performing…

The TUI long-haul routes from BHX in 2024…

BHX-BRIDGETOWN = 94.8%
BHX-CANCUN = 92.0%
BHX-LA ROMANA = 93.8%
BHX-MELBOURNE = 76.1%
BHX-MONTEGO BAY = 92.6%
BHX-PUNTA CANA = 86.8%
BHX-SINGAPORE = 84.3%

Not heard to see why the MLB Route was the one axed!

With TUI axing two routes from LGW do you also fear TUI will pull out of LGW also out of curiosity? BTW TUI Belgium only had 1x long-haul aircraft flying 3x weekly routes from BRU. The aircraft is being shifted to join the TUI Netherland fleet so very different to their UK business.

I hope you are right Woody, yes as you have pointed out Orlando appears to be the odd one out, however it may also have got heads thinking at TUI HQ about BHX's future role in the long haul program. Of course they will never shut LGW before BHX but we all know if changes were to be made to the long haul program which airport would be effected first ?

Which airports would be effected first? How about:
  • Belfast
  • Newcastle
  • Glasgow
....to name a few UK TUI long-haul routes that have TUI operations that are a fraction of the size of those at BHX!

I'm not suggesting that TUI would pull out of LGW before BHX, im not even suggesting TUI is puling out of anywhere, that was you. I'm just challenging your logic...

BrumX: TUI are cancelling 1x route from BHX, maybe it will get "heads thinking at TUI HQ about BHX's future role in the long haul program"

Nwoody2001: OK, they are cancelling 2x routes from LGW. If you are correct, surely cancelling 2x routes will get "heads thinking at TUI HQ about LGW's future role in the long haul program"

As of 2023 (I cant find 2024 data but) BHX is TUI's 3rd largest base in the UK out of 19, and represents 16% of all TUI flights.

As of the Summer'23 schedule:

1: MAN 1,215k Seats (+13%)
2: LGW 1,033k Seats (+10%)
3: BHX 772k Seats (+23%)
4. BRS 354k Seats (+9%)
5. EMA 321k Seats (+48%)

Now aviation is an unpredictable beast and no one can know the future, but can we not panic and catastrophise that TUI my consider pulling out their long-haul routes from BHX because they can 1 out of 7 of our long-haul routes!

TUIs long haul for the majority of this summer, is only from 5 UK airports, Manchester, Gatwick, Birmingham, Newcastle & Glasgow, with a few extra long haul flights from Belfast & Dublin, June & July peak season only.

August 2025 long haul departures:-

only 4 long haul destinations served this summer, Cancun, Montego Bay, Orlando & Punta Cana

Their long haul routes are shrinking every year, and I presume they can make more money now on flying the 787s to 2 short haul destinations every day, rather than long haul.

Dunno if I’m going ballooney here but I think Tui airways are making changes to it’s Birmingham schedule.some dates not showing. Can some one please confirm and clarify please

the following TUI flights for summer 2025 should be operated by Fly4Airlines, one B738 to be based:-

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
