Unsurprisingly Thomson have cancelled all their flights to Tunisia next week including those from BHX.

I wonder if today's Thomas cook to Enfhida will depart this evening ?????

This could ruin Tunisia. I really really hope it does not.

At the end of the day, people want to go on holiday and feel safe, however if you put it into context, that could of happened anywhere. Tunisia, Cyprus, Turkey, Greece, Spain.

Look at what happened in London on 7/7, did we stop going to London. NO AND WHY SHOULD WE.

I hope Tunisia recovers from this. And shame on you all those fanatic terrorists. YOU WILL NOT STOP ME :drinks:

That's quite remarkable although on the way back it'll probably be filled with people being taken away from the awful events over there.
Thomas Cook seem not to be letting it ruin things for them as it stands.

Kudos to Thomson for such a great evacuation job. An awful lot of flights went out last night.

The word is Thomson are getting 3 Boeing 787-9s which will have even longer range and will open up a swathe of new leisure destinations from the UK.

I know this is one area where Birmingham is a bit thin in terms of routes and the return of Punta Cana was very welcome news. However we still do not have flights to loads of other great places like Goa, Puerto Vallarta and Phuket.

I doubt we'll be seeing the 789s that often, but that might mean more 788s are freed up to provide additional capacity on existing routes. I was expecting a bit more this year after we had several 767 flights last year and so far I've been disappointed. Even after the new deliveries we haven't seen any short haul 788s or 767s.

I've also seen the big 737 MAX order and I guess they'll replace the 757s 🙁

I think BHX have made massive strides forwards this with the additions to the European network. Long haul has had some expansion but I think long haul leisure remains woeful.

As has been said so many times Orlando is drastically under served as is the Toronto summer season. Cuba, Las Vegas, Vancouver, Goa are all missing and it would be nice to see Antigua, St Lucia and maybe a winter Miami for the cruise flights.

I also think we need an ultra long haul route now to really showcase the extended runway and prove to the doubters that building it was the correct decision.

I've posted the news in the MAN thread, so I'll post here too.

Thomson Airways will fly cruise charters from MAN/BHX/LGW/CWL and NCL to Dubai for the winter 2016/2017 season using the B787.

a nice little surprise. any idea of the number of flights / schedule?

Thanks

Once weekly on Fridays I think. Cruise goes out on a Saturday so all UK points likely to head out the day before.

A little more detail confirmed by Thomson.

Flights will be in December 2016.

There will be 3 flights from each airport. There will be 2 cruises so the flights will run out full first week and return empty, then the 2nd flights will run out full both ways and then the last week will see the flights run out empty and return full.

Flights will use the B787 and fly to Dubai World Central (DWC), so technically a new destination for all the airports concerned.

Over the winter our 787 has a pretty full programme with Cancun 2x weekly, Montego Bay weekly and Bridgetown 3x weekly, with one day down for maintenance.

From a BHX point of view it'll be interesting to see whether BGI gets one weekly flight dropped/moved on these dates or whether another 787 will position in to do these flights.

As posted on the route development thread Montego Bay goes up to 2x weekly as of Jan 2016 until the end of April when it goes back to weekly.

Agadir still isn't bookable for next year. Flight only shows no dates available and holidays in Morocco only show the 2x weekly Marrakesh.

It was a similar situation this summer when it was announced but didn't operate :dunno:

When are Punta Cana, Split, Alghero and Izmir supposed to be on sale?

Punta Cana went on sale within a matter of days, none of the others are bookable.

When I looked yesterday the Wednesday Ibiza flight and the Sunday Catania flight were showing as airline TBC, they are both now showing TOM codes.

There had been rumours of either a Germania aircraft or Norwegian doing the flights so it could add weight to the rumour that we won't be seeing anything from Norwegian for S16?

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?

I don't believe I am quite covering enough roles at work. Its now 4 on a bad day, 5 on a good day and there is scope for a 6th and 7th role. Still on minimum pay but had the biggest payrise in the company,
