Below the scheduled Thomson flights to Cancun there is a section labelled "charter flights". What do we make of it?

I make out that it's 2 weekly. The flights run at different times of the year. (If that's what your eluding to?)

I posted this because I think it's strange to see some labelled "scheduled" and some "charter".

Monday flights to Cancun next year are between May 2 and October 24. They look to be replacing the Wednesday flights this year. The schedule for PUJ is all Saturdays. It looks like the "scheduled" Cancun flight that operated on Saturday this year will be moved back to Friday to make way for it.

I'm assuming these are all outbound, so that would mean the Cancun flight departing on Friday returns on Saturday then departs to Punta Cana, returning on Sunday to depart to MBJ or SFB, then returning on Monday to depart for Cancun once more, and the Cancun flight departing on Monday returns on Tuesday. I don't know where the last MBJ/SFB fits in.

Next summer sees Orlando weekly on a Thursday, Dominican Republic on a Saturday, Montego Bay on a Sunday and Cancun on a Friday and a Monday, so no flights Tue or Wed.

MBJ goes up to 2x weekly in Jan but that is only until April when it returns back to 1x weekly.

Pretty poor show really

Still better than this year, and we'll have the second return flight from Cancun on Tuesday, like we have on Sunday this year, so Wednesday should be the only day without any movements.

Thomson long haul currently showing for W16/17.

Montego Bay - Tue & Sun
Cancun - Mon & Thur
Barbados - Sunday
Punta Cana - Wednesday

Friday & Saturday are usually the P&O cruise flights to Barbados.

The Dubai cruise flights are on Mondays starting the 20th Dec and are bookable every two weeks up until 28th Feb at the moment making 6 departures.

As said on the route development thread Sundays shows two long haul departures but I have a feeling that the Sunday MBJ flight will be dropped and a LGW based 787 will do the Dubai flights.

It would be nice to think that we're on the verge of getting a second 787, at least part week but I'll believe it when I see it.

No problem.

The Wed Montego Bay has been moved to Sunday to fit in Punta Cana which doesn't operate this winter. It's good to see that (hopefully) it will be a year round route and fingers crossed there will be a second aircraft rather than a cut in routes.

Although it's early days going into S17 Orlando starts on March 30th (Thur) when Cancun swaps to a Mon and Fri. MBJ stays on Tue and Sun until mid April when it drops to Sunday only, after the Sunday Barbados ends. Punta Cana moves back to Sat.

So after April we currently have the usual

CUN - Mon & Fri
MBJ - Sun
PUJ - Sat
SFB - Thur

Not great really and despite all the good news recently I still think that long haul leisure is BHX's weakest point.

Im also being told from another forum that we will have Orlando SFB start in March 2017, do we normally have Thomson flights to Orlando in March ????

It normally starts around early April

S17 only shows one flight in March (30th), most likely to catch the Easter Hols.

This winter Birmingham had November too and SFB starts again in March 2016.
Daza

Thomson now have two Verona flights on a Saturday for next summer with a morning Flybe added.

VRO 11:55 BHX 13:10

Thomson and First Choice announce their Winter 2016 flying programme from Birmingham Airport

Thomson and First Choice have announced their winter 2016 flying programme from Birmingham Airport which includes a new winter route to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

The programme also features new flexible 10 and 11 night durations to Sal, Cape Verde, as well as short breaks and daytrips to Lapland.

The move to introduce these routes is part of the holiday company’s strategy to ensure customers across the UK can fly from their local airport and stay at the best hotels in some of the most exciting destinations around the world.

Customers travelling from Birmingham will have access to some of Thomson and First Choice’s most popular flagship hotels, including the Thomson Sensatori Resort in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic and the Melia Dunas Resort in Sal, Cape Verde.

The Sensatori Resort in Punta Cana is located on the golden sands of Uvero Alto beach, 60 km north of Punta Cana airport. The hotel features an adults-only section, decadent honeymoon suites with Jacuzzis, spacious family suites and eight restaurants. Those flying to the Melia Dunas Resort in Sal will be able to step straight from one of five pools to the private beach, and can chose from a huge variety of deluxe rooms, suites and family rooms.

Flight and hotel packages are on sale now at www.thomson.co.uk

Karen Switzer, Director of Aviation Planning for Thomson and First Choice, said: “Adding more choice and flexibility for winter 2016 demonstrates our commitment to Birmingham Airport and the local area. We are pleased to be able to extend our long haul winter offering with the introduction of the Dominican Republic, allowing our customers in the Birmingham area to experience even more exciting holidays travelling on our revolutionary 787 Dreamliner.

“Expanding access to our portfolio of destinations and hotels is a key part of our overall strategy and we hope that this move will enhance the holiday experience for our customers.”

William Pearson, Aviation Development Director at Birmingham Airport, said: “We are delighted that Thomson and First Choice are continuing to expand their services from Birmingham and responding to passenger requirements. Demand for more choice of winter destination and frequency of flights continues to grow amongst passengers choosing Birmingham as their preferred UK airport.

"The Caribbean has year round popularity but particularly so during December to April and we are sure that Thomson and First Choice’s direct flights to the Dominican Republic will be very well received.”

S16 update

Thomson S16 update

The additional seventh based aircraft is now reported to be a B738 from the Canadian airline Sunwing as reported on another website. I actually saw this airline operating on behalf of Thomson Airlines at Dublin Airport when i visited last August 2015. At least it will bring some colour and variety to our offering this coming summer. I love these random airlines. Small Planet is another one i love.

Thomson holidays are showing an extra Punta Cana flight next summer. Although the holidays aren't bookable yet there looks to be an extra Tuesday flight. Orlando is still once weekly, what have we got to do to get more?

S17 as it stands at this early stage.

Mexico - Mon and Fri

Jamaica - Sun

Florida - Thur

Dominican Republic - Tue and Sat

New Spanish route to be launched. Only long haul expansion from BHX will be the known second Dom Rep flight.

Plenty of other increases too, but, all will be clear on Thursday 21st.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
