Weetabix

This morning my son said he wanted Weetabix for breakfast. He said can I have it cold? I said yes son. So I made him some cold Weetabix. My daughter then said dad can I have warm Weetabix please? So I said of course you can and stuck her bowl of Weetabix in the microwave for a minute and then she asked for a light sprinkle of sugar over the top. She said don't mix it in.

It got me thinking because I like my Weetabix cold with a sprinkle of sugar on the top. I hate Weetabix if it goes all soggy so it's a military operation to ensure the milk and sugar pot are ready and waiting. It's a rush on to get it all eaten while the Weetabix is still crunchy. Once it's gone soggy and messy it's time to get rid.

How do you eat yours?;)

I rarely eat Weetabix these days but when I did eat it I ate it cold and with no accompaniments.

For breakfast now I always have muesli, fruit yoghurt, a banana or apple and some fruit juice. I have my first cup (mug) of tea of the day at lunchtime. I don't drink coffee - don't like the taste.

I've never been one for cooked breakfasts. I'm a big eater but never in the morning.

Back to Weetabix, was there once a tv advertisement featuring Ian Botham who could eat three Weetabixes for breakfast or was that Shredded Wheat?

I love Weetabix with warmed up milk,a sprinkling of sugar and all mixed up.
I get bored with breakfast cereals, but I find if I have cereal,i generally don't have anything else for a good few hours. I guess in that case they serve a purpose then don't they?!(y)

Got to admit, I love oat granola. The fruit & nut variety. I like muesli but I don't think it's as nice, probably because it's not as crunchy maybe.

Fun idea for a thread. I eat Weetabix exactly the same as Aviador!

At meals when there are several types of food I always eat the foods in a certain order (for example, when it's a Sunday roast I always eat the green vegetables first, then the potatoes and Yorkshire puddings, and finally the meat). Anyone else do this?

That is exactly how my old man eats a Sunday roast. He says he likes to save the best till last. I prefer to eat the best first so the meat and Yorkshire puddings first followed by the roast potatoes then everything else. At least then I know if I feel full towards the end I don't feel as bad for leaving anything.

Weetabix, , 4 in a bowl, cold milk in just the right quantity so the Weetabix JUST about absorbs it all in 10 mins. When you can stand a spoon in it you know it's ready, two spoons of sugar and away you go (y)

These days I can't be doing breakfast, I choose a breakfast bar instead. When I was young though, I used to like my Weetabix somewhat soggy in warm milk and absolutely covered in sugar :p

This is how my kids generally eat their Crunchy Nut cornflakes. The floor usually looks equally as messy as the table and all because I wanted an extra five minutes lie-in!

Yesterday I had Weetabix for the first time in several years. It was the kids Weetabix minis with chocolate chips, quite nice they were too.

I had them with cold, skimmed milk.

I go from cereal to cereal for no particular reason. At first I only ate malted wheats (Shreddies), then for a long time I only ate cornflakes while I tried out a wheat-free diet, then I ate Weetabix for a while. Now I'm back to Shreddies, and I love them. They don't get soggy like Weetabix and they fill the stomach in a way cornflakes don't.

I also tried cutting dairy products out of my diet, so I've been eating my cereal with rice milk ever since I started my diet. I've started eating wheat again now, and I'm pretty lax as far as dairy is concerned, although I don't eat yoghurt or cheese and only have cow's milk when there's nothing else available. I'm not allergic, but I found I liked rice milk so much that I haven't stopped using it.

Overall my favourite food is good old fish and chips :)

I rarely eat Breakfast, but I like a big bowl of Original Shreddies mixed with Rice Chrispies. Failing that, Alpen with added raisins. A cooked heart attack on a plate never cut it for me, even as a child. The days of a plate of week old food presented to me, my late father had a rule, all food uneaten to be offered until it was, sits heavy in my memories.

Living alone has it's benefits, do as one pleases!

I admit it, I used to eat Weetabix with butter. Don't like full English so only have bacon, sausage, mushrooms and hash browns. That's why I like buffet breakfasts in hotels....

Now have Sainsbury's strawberry granola; doesn't have too much sugar/salt. Two tablespoons fat free Greek style natural yoghurt and a few blueberries. Sometimes toast; must be white bread and cold. Roast dinner isn't eaten in any particular order, maybe meat and yorkshire first then cauliflower cheese. If roasties are crispy then they get a look in next.

Other quirks? Salt on cold beef and chicken. First chip eaten with fingers. Chips with mayo. No raw tomatoes; food of the devil! Oh, a cheese sandwich has to be on very new white bread....

I used to enjoy Wheetabix, but one morning, the flavour changed and I refused it, with the aforementioned consequences. The recipe was altered to the extent that I detected an additional ingredient my nose and mouth rejected.

I have a sweet tooth but turning more towards plain chocolate. Used to love Cadbury Twirl but recently all they tasted of was sugar. Then there was the itching mouth.

Going back to cereals. Cheerios far too sweet. Special K has more sugar than Corn Flakes.

One thing still a mystery, why is there sweetener in toothpaste? Is it something that doesn't cause cavities....

I've got quite into making my own Granola just lately. Oats, olive oil, honey with glazed cherries and sliced almonds = cherry bakewell Granola. It tastes amazing.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
