With Air Transat resuming flights today, I realised they don't have their own thread, so I thought I'd start one.

I'm not expecting too much discussion on this thread, but you never know :)

Shows how stagnant they are, I didn't even realise we don't have a thread for them.

Has the flight been re-timed this year to arrive an hour or so later? I'm sure it was around 07:30ish last year? Will make things easier for the peak morning period.

I agree, Air Transat deserve there own thread, stagnant or not.

As annoying as there 1 x weekly flight to Toronto is for us and still only seasonal, they have been loyal to BHX over the years and BHX would look poorer without them.

Its great to have them back and with more A330s this year. Every little helps. (y)

In my opinion, I suspect Air Transat will be similar to Ryanair. We know BHX are after a second Canadian Carrier and as such, the second someone comes into the BHX-Canada market, I suspect Air Transat will respond. Question is, who are BHX after? WestJet? Air Canada Rouge? Norwegian?

They are now advertising flights to Montreal - albeit via Toronto. Montreal now appears in the drop down menu as a destination from BHX - thought I'd post it as I don't think TS have ever offered connecting flights before?

Yeah this was mentioned a few weeks ago, it is defo something new and as you say it was never bookable before. Maybe just maybe they are getting the stats for passengers wanting to visit Montreal and considering direct flights in the future. They have just started flights from GLA.

Ive had to have a word with Air Transat on there facebook page as they keep promoting BHX but there main headline and website promoting there UK/Canada flights keeps saying "Fly to Canada from London, Manchester, Glasgow and other major cities" Mmmmmmmmm that really bugs me :wtf:

As Birmingham is there only other UK major city, there are no other cities. Is it really that hard just to say you can fly to Canada from London, Manchester, Glasgow and Birmingham ?????

Just another marketing spin to make it look like they fly from more UK points than is actually the case. However good to hear that they have been promoting BHX - what sort of things have they been saying about us? :)

They also seem to be pushing Montreal. It would be nice if they're evaluating it possibly for something direct in the future.

Has anyone thought that that Air Transat don't think there are enough pax for 2 flights so operating 1 to get maximum yield?

We have the same problem with stagnant ops at MAN even though we have TS to YYZ, YYC and YVR and Rouge to YYZ multiple times a week there is just no aspiration for growth. Is the UK Canada market not doing greatly because given the Brexit vote I would have thought there would have been closer links to Commonwealth countries?

On the AC thread for Manchester, we have talked about how they trialled full service and that we might get AC next year given the wealth of connections from YYZ but after reading this thread, is the Canada market ex-LHR faltering?

Closer links with developing economies are more likely. So to the consumer that's more cheap tac from China or India that doesn't reach the standard we are used to from our European neighbours. Anyway that's my take on this let's see what transpires.

The first two flights in May and last flight in October are A310 with all the rest on an A332.

Slightly more than this year.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
