BHX is woefully underserved over the Atlantic. Massive catchment area. Getting a new entrant onto BHX-Canada may stir Air Transat out of apathy. For CWL, it's hardly a sign of endorsement that they can only attract airlines by dangling subsidies in front of them.

Only subsided airlines are Flybe and Eastern for the Anglesey route as it's a PSO. The others aren't. As far as TATL at CWL and CWL as a whole it may just need an airline like Primera to see an opportunity and take a chance like Primera are doing at BHX.
As for Air Transat would it really effect them as aren't they more a holiday type airline for Canadians? Bit like Thomson?

...and here is a probable ex-BHX visitor retiring yesterday for scrap. I always liked the chunky shape of the A310 and it was quite a technical leap at the time within Airbus as far as I remember.

(it's a pity it didn't roll its wings - surely a time for that!)

With Primera due to announce YYZ I saw TS living on borrowed time anyway.

It's always a shame to loose an airline, but better to get an airline in that is willing to serve the route more than one weekly.

PK was certainly right when he said 2018 was going to be interesting.

Sad news, but the route will not stay unserved for long. Been a constant albeit infrequent visitor. Always a shame to lose an airline based on the country which the route serves.

Really beginning to see a restructuring of the routes and a shake up for the sector not just at BHX but nationally. Old players going. New ones coming along. Wait 10 years and it will no doubt all happen again.

Thanks for service, Air Transat. Any idea when it goes?

Is this "insider information" Ian? Flights are still showing on the mobile site.

also a loss of an A330, that just leaves Air Tanker operating an A330 once a week, providing they don't pull out next year!

So wide body wise, next year we only get 2x EK380s daily, 1 daily QR787, 1 daily AI787, 1 daily TOM787, and 3 PK 777s during the week... hardly need the runway extension now! :(

I know this is bad news but Transat never really showed much commitment to BHX just seemed to be going through the motions with a weekly flight . There are some people who want to slit there wrists with this news on top of some other bad news but we need to stay positive i for one will be looking and waiting to see if and when some other airline takes this route or some of the others we have lost .

However the fact that they were here and have been for a long time, just like United showed commitment. It just shows a worrying trend that well established airlines are quitting BHX. And who will be next ?

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
