So wide body wise, next year we only get 2x EK380s daily, 1 daily QR787, 1 daily AI787, 1 daily TOM787, and 3 PK 777s during the week... hardly need the runway extension now! :(

At least TOM will need it for Goa and Phuket. Given they’ll be the first official regular routes I’m still amazed how little fanfare they’ve received so far. A direct flight to Thailand would have beem out of the question before.

also a loss of an A330, that just leaves Air Tanker operating an A330 once a week, providing they don't pull out next year!

I suppose having the x 2 A380s every day make the runway extension worthwile. JUST

Last time I looked the website showed no abnormal or frozen prices, nor any other signs of a route that is about to be cancelled.

While Ian's sources did correctly predict the dropping of EK41/42 and the arrival of Primera there have been some predictions that are yet to materialise (one being bmi regional launching 3x daily Inverness and a daily Oslo)

I hope someone has simply got their wires crossed.

Even if Air Transat haven't quit BHX, what are the chances they'll stick around if/when Primera launch Toronto - any idea when they will?

As for well established airlines quitting BHX and does this indicate a trend - we've known for a number of years now that LCCs would enter the Trans-Atlantic market. Legacy carriers have had a tough time competing with LCC on short haul routes with a lot of airlines cutting back on what they offer and charging for items they didn't previously. Would this still work on long haul routes though? Big markets such as London/Manchester perhaps, but maybe not from more regional ones like Birmingham.

I could expand but this is the Air Transat thread so I'll leave it there.

As far as I know most Transat seats are booked through Canadian Affair travel,so maybe they wouldn't be
as affected by Primera's direct booking system as we might imagine. There must be demand for 4 flights a
week from an area as big as ours-just my thoughts

Brum X Question
Are you still flying BHX-YYZ. Ive heard on other social media that you will be stopping Birmingham flights in S18 ? I hope this is just gossip and not true Air Transat ?

Air Transat Answer
Hi Alan,
Thank you for your question!
Our Birmingham-Toronto's flights are on our flight schedule for 2018

:)
For more detail on our flight schedule, please follow this link: http://bit.ly/2sTLWyx
Thank you and have a great day, Mathieu_AirTransat

Air Transat's 2018 flights were removed from sale just after the Primera Toronto announcement

The calendar on the Air Transat site has BHX down for 1 weekly flight on a Wednesday but when you try and book it comes up as error.

Without the runway extension, would Prinera be able to fly a fully loaded A321neo (not necessarily the LR version) on transatlantic flights out of BHX? I'm not in the know with regard to runway performance but I'm not sure BHX would be as attractive a base with a shorter runway.
It would be great if someone could provide the figures.

Sad to see them go but no real surprise, yet another airline that remained stagnant for way too long. It was always going to come to a head and I think we all knew what the outcome would be.

It would be interesting to know if this was the long term plan and BHX have managed to get the route covered or whether they really have spat their dummy over Primera. It seems odd that they took the flight off sale almost immediately after Primera put theirs on sale.

Still, we gain a weekly capacity increase to Toronto and now also have it year round.

We really, really need Primera to work :nailbiting:

Air Transat have been doing a seasonal service for many years. Surely the demand is there for more flights to Toronto than what we already have?

I just noticed your postcode on a post.

Do you still live in the area?
