There is definitely no first class available at BHX for the forseeable, the booking must have just shown the DXB-PER leg of the flight.

As for the advert I haven't seen it so can't comment but it's a bit odd advertising a product that isn't available. The only explanation I can think of is if the ad uses terminology such as a 'first class experience' or similar, it could easily be confused when driving past :dunno:

Unless there was something in the small print saying first class is only available on the DXB - XXX leg of the flight just wish I could have taken a pic of it.

Emirates Hub in Europe.

Looks like it will be Barcelona El Prat but somebody on another MAN thread has quoted "other" UK airports in the frae, now i assume MAN was one of the UK airports and im not getting my hopes up that the other might be BHX (We do get surprises at BHX) but im curious who is the other ???? LGW ?????

Not wanting to jump the gun and put a jinx on things, with rumours getting ever stronger that BHX will see a third daily flight announced in the coming days/weeks who wants to play guess the aircraft if it happens?

A morning A332 with the other two remaining as 77W's?

Straight in at 3x daily 77W's?

A morning A332 and EK39/40 upgraded to an A380?

I'd be happy for any extra capacity at the moment but I think one of the first two combinations is most likely, I don't see an A380 on the cards just yet.

The other question though is will first class finally be introduced?

Great news if this confirmed and will put the icing on the cake as far as i am concerned for BHX next year, 10million would defo be on the cards unless as you say, something big happens to scupper it all.
Maybe this is what Mr Kehoe was trying to tell me in his email that more good news was hopefully on its way ????

Id go for a morning A330 and the other two remaining at 777s.

Will be good to see more regular A330s at the airport too.

I hope so, the lack of extra capacity heading east (AI aside) was the only thing holding me back about getting excited for 2015, an EK third flight would top it all off, although being greedy I'd like the extra 4x weekly TK flights too :D

Although the 77W gives more seats I'd hope for an A330 too, it's one of my favourite aircraft and apart from the ad hoc stuff and the likes of the Hi Fly MOD flights we only see Air Transat using them :s_sad

Still two class?

I think so.

The last quote I saw from Tim Clarke was about 12 months ago saying BHX would not be a 1st class route, and have not seen anything to counter that view since.

There should be an announcement from BHX today and it is assumed that it'll be a morning EK flight. Obviously things can happen so it could be delayed but it sure would make a great start to the weekend :)

Its all very Quiet ????

I dont think we will get any news from the airport today, maybe tomorrow ?? Or Monday.

3 daily, great news if it happens.
On the up side lots of new onward destinations become available and the magic 10 million pax mark becomes a reality rather than possibility.
On the down side it becomes even less likely that another ME airline starts up or any other Eastern airline for that matter, especially with the recent developments at MAN.
However even with the AI service going daily I still see lots of Indian destinations on EK boarding cards.Mumbai,Kolkata,Chennai,Bangalore and even Delhi. So I believe that there are possibilities in that part of the world.
Incidently China and Australia still feature heavily as onward destinations as well and I still believe China will become a regular service in the near future.Whether as a scheduled or charter service, remains to be seen, but that perhaps is for another thread :good:

Birminghams 2015 just got better.

3rd daily morning flight confirmed from 1st Aug.

Not only that, first class is to be offered!

Great news!

Excellent news and definitely needed. EK41 arrives 07:05 with EK42 departing at 09:10.

Good news about First Class too, if it works then the next upgrade will be to an A380.

Emirates Adds Third Daily Rotation to Birmingham

Emirates to Launch Third Daily Service from Birmingham

22 December 2014

Emirates, a global connector of people, places and economies, has announced a third daily service from Birmingham Airport to Dubai, becoming the first airline to offer a direct First Class service to the region.

Commencing Saturday 1st August 2015, Emirates flight EK41 will depart Dubai International Airport at 0235hrs and arrive in Birmingham at 0705hrs. The outbound flight EK42 will depart Birmingham Airport at 0910hrs and arrive in Dubai at 1910hrs, well-timed for a good night’s sleep and a fresh start in the city the following day. The additional service adds seven more inbound flights a week to Dubai for Birmingham, increasing passenger and cargo capacity on the route by 50 percent.

“Dubai has proven to be an increasingly strong market for leisure and business travellers residing in the West Midlands. The additional daily flight to Dubai from Birmingham will give our customers greater flexibility in their travel plans, departing from their local airport. Customers can experience the ease of flying to Dubai and connect seamlessly to other flights on Emirates’ extensive network such as East Asia,” said Hubert Frach, Emirates’ Divisional Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations West. “As part of our continued commitment, we’re excited to become the first airline offering First Class to the region.

Emirates started flying from Birmingham to Dubai in December 2000 when it launched the route with a daily non-stop service, operated by a 278-seat Airbus A330. Over its 14 year history at Birmingham, Emirates has carried 4.9 million passengers. Passengers flying from the Midlands can travel to Dubai and beyond, to an ever expanding global network. Popular destinations from Birmingham include Australia, India, Singapore, Bangkok and Hong Kong.

Paul Kehoe, Birmingham Airport CEO, said: “Emirates’ decision to add a third daily service to Dubai and beyond from Birmingham Airport clearly shows the strong demand that exists in the city and the region for passengers who want connectivity to Dubai, Asia and Australia.

“Since the carrier began flying from Birmingham 14 years ago, passengers have been telling us how much they value the route and the excellent service they receive, so today’s announcement is great news for everyone. In addition to increased frequency, this new third service will operate on a three class Boeing 777-300ER, meaning passengers will be able to experience their excellent first class suites, the first time it has been offered on this route.”

The seven new flights a week will be operated with a Boeing 777-300ER aircraft in a three class configuration. The added capacity provides 56 First Class, 294 Business Class and 2170 Economy Class seats each way per week on the route, as well as 23 tonnes of additional capacity for cargo per flight.

All three cabins are equipped with Emirates’ award-winning ice entertainment system with more than 2,000 channels of on-demand entertainment to choose from, including movies, television programmes, games, audio books and music from across the world.

As with all Emirates flights, passengers on the new Birmingham-Dubai services will enjoy the extra generous Emirates baggage allowance of 30kg in Economy Class, 40kg in Business Class and 50g in First Class. The additional services also provide more opportunities for members of Skywards, the award-winning frequent flyer programme of Emirates Airline, to earn Skywards Miles on their travel.

Absolutely brilliant news.
2015 just keeps getting better doesn't it.
Not wanting to be greedy but if we can get some Beijing charters again that will be the icing on the cake.
I also think that Paul Kehoe and his team deserve a lot of credit for the way they have gone about their business.I know there have been times when we have criticised that team for whatever reason but the fact is 2015 is looking like the best year in BHXs' history in terms of passenger numbers and destinations,if you take FlyBe out of the equation.
Cheers to Emirates for making Christmas merry :drinks:

Excellent news; now I wonder if this will make EY/QR sit up and take notice or give up altogether? A x5 weekly QR 787 would be nice but I'm not going to be greedy!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
