Sounds like the A380 has been put on a back-burner for the moment. I am seeing various posts on social media advising that BHX will remain a 2 x 777 operation for the time being.

I'm not really that fussed to be honest, having a 2 daily 777 operation is still pretty good for an airport like BHX (y)

I'm no airline expert but i cant image an airline the size of Emirates would go to the effort to update its booking system or schedule to change its mind 48 hours later during the xmas period. That is no-where near enough time for nearly ANYTHING to happen that would change their mind. I can only assume this was an error, either in updating the schedule in the first place (which the ACL report would not suggest is the case - they have after all applied for slots for 1x daily 380 & 777 - or it was an error in releasing the update prematurely...

we will have to wait and see...

Can anyone give a brief explanation into why the emirates comes in late quite often especially the evening flight?

I know that we have the B777 come daily right .It has less passengers than the A380 obviously.I wanted to know why the emirates departs Dxb at like half hour to 45 minutes late. When it should depart the gate at 10.50 -10.55 am.should take off around 11.05 am to 11.15am .I’ve noticed this week it’s taken off at certain late times of 11.50am ,12pm

I understand other flights have to take off around a similar time.Is there an actual reason for this. One thing that strikes me is that the Manchester A380 flight scheduled to depart from gate at 10.40 doesn’t take off until 11.00-11.10 I would expect to be delayed.

Could anyone with experience give information?

Dubai is alot more larger than Birmingham or Manchester. There's other planes that need to take off but dubai only has 2 runways with many planes landing and taking off both runways.

Just an observation on the above comment re Emirates late departures. I noticed that the late Manchester Emirates on Saturday night ( EK20?) departed about 4hours or more late at 01.38.
No idea why?.

I would say it is mostly due to length of the taxi at Dubai hence the reason Emirates flights have a lot of padding in their flight times. For instance the evening flight is advertised as 7 hours 55 minutes but typically the flying time is 7 hours 25 minutes.

Remember a flight commences from the time of push back not the airborne time (take off). Similarly for landing at busier airports such as Heathrow and Dubai, touchdown to taxing on to stand can be upwards of 20 minutes!

I flew on EK39 when it was an A380 and recall that wait to enter the runaway felt frustratingly long, even more so than a similar experience at Heathrow. The aircraft is one of a huge wave heading to Europe so there are a lot of flights heading on a similar routing almost at the same time. Always a challenge for ATC.

Finally, in the end what matters to all passengers is the flight lands on time. Most will accept a late departure if they still arrive at the destination close to the scheduled time. This is what Emirates flights manage to do on a daily basis. While they may be late leaving Dubai, they pretty much land on time. By that I mean within 30 minutes of the arrival time which is very good for a near 8 hour flight.

One other thing to also consider here is connecting pax in DXB. If there are quite a lot running late from another inbound flight it may be worth their while to delay that onward flight (e.g. to BHX) as maybe cheaper than rerouting/reaccommodating, or overnighting the pax involved

it’s on time.
See what I meant. If it leaves gate at DXB at 10.50-10.55 it will leave at 11.00-11.10 .great to see its on time At arrival of 18.33pm .Also six minutes behind Manchester flight

How long is a piece of string? There can be any number of reasons why a flight runs behind schedule.

Generally speaking in aviation, as the day goes on delays build and build. Consider if the first flight of the day has a delay, that has a continuing knock on effect throughout the day as that crew and aircraft run late. Also all the ground crew and other resources that were involved in getting that first flight away will then have the rest of their duties that day delayed as a result. A delay on a 6am departure can have knock on delays that affect another departure over 12 hours later that evening and even into the next day.

Sometimes there's slack in the schedule or spare resources available that allow the operation to catch up to schedule. Other times nothing can be done and it's a case of it is what it is.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
