Location, location location along with modern communications mean the days of a 5 daily to LHR and a virtual shuttle service at weekends toJersey are ancient history. BHX's geographical position in central England leaves no significant domestic routes unserved.

it is pretty clear that any significant expansion for BHX is in the European market which for BHX means Ryanair and EasyJet who are pan European operators.and our bread and butter with long haul heading east being the jam.

Birmingham Airports domestic network route is non existent, yet if you look at Heathrow, gatwick, Manchester, Edinburgh. Yet Glasgow has the best, with 11 routes, compared to Birmingham Airports 3, this is another area, where Birmingham airport is failing for business needs. While other UK airports prosper and expand, Birmingham airport does the opposite. The airport needs more domestic routes in the UK
More like 10 not 3 !

I'd like to see Emirates add Premium Economy to EK39 & EK40.
I appreciate that the mid-range metal is either 2 or 3 class. Nice to see them start to roll-out 3 or 4 class.
Too short a revenue journey to recover significant investment.

Not sure that is correct as MAN gets 2/3/4 class fom summer which is actually a loss of seats

Thanks Mullion,
If Manchester already has a first class service, that will be retro-fitting of existing 3 class A/C, similar to the ultra long range. Birmingham only has 2 class service on the flights I mentioned and, as far as I can see, Emirates have no plans for retro-fitting the 2 class A/C - they still have plenty of work on the 3 class stock.
It looks as if the A350's will be fitted with Premium Economy.

@tompo I understand, but this is just a wishlist - bet you'd appreciate the extra room on the last 7 hours journey over here? 👍

I believe the MAN 3 class service (now 4 class) has run for many years, so I am not sure this is retro fitting. I believe that GLA has also had the 3 class for quite a while.

I do appreciate the extra legroom when travelling DXB to BHX. Regrettably though, it entails the premium payment for a business fare.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
