For a bit of fun what routes do you think could realistically be announced by our carriers over the next 12 months? These can include announcements for Summer/Winter 18 starts aswell. Could be interesting to look back in twelve months and see how many we might have got right!

Kos
Pisa
Pula
Split
Thessaloniki
Zante

Monarch
Naples
Zagreb

Ryanair
Bergamo

Thomas Cook

Great idea.

It's probably best in it's own thread so as not to be confused with what is actually confirmed for 2017.

I'll add my list later :)

Just more movements overall would be nice. It would be nice for China and the east coast of the US to be served from BHX direct - it's possible now after all.

I have quite a list

Long haul I'd like Atlanta more to Toronto and possibly a seasonal Chicago. Cuba, Las Vegas, Mumbai, Abu Dhabi, Tehran and one or even two routes to Asia.

As Thunder child and Ray have pretty much covered it, I am more humble and I would like to see any unserved Euro capital, Mumbai, somewhere in south america (the next big thing)...and Vancouver: my two favourite cities linked together would be great...oh and a shuttle to Southend so I back to me mum quicker.

I think South America is extremely unlikely for any UK regional - look at LHR, even it has a limited network and is one of the largest air travel markets in the world.

This is all a little tongue in cheek.....don't take it at all seriously it's good to see our real new routes added, who would have predicted BHX-GRZ?
For me holiday charter wise I would like to see Samos, Thessaloniki and Mykonos the three main Greek gaps, Split and Cagliari maybe?
In Italy surely Pisa must be on Jet2s list maybe Bologna and Naples could work? Geneva, year-round scheduled service is an obvious gap. I think Waterford could be tried again. In Spain, personally I would like to see Seville a beautiful city underserved IMHO and a return to scheduled flights to Almeria.
Further afield more Toronto and Orlando maybe Chicago would be good but I won't hold my breath! Midlanders seem content to travel elsewhere for US flights. I'm sure more routes, some none of us expect are to come.

This is in no way to argue against the point made by ethanegcc re South America and i don't doubt that he is right when he says that even LHR has a limited network.

But that surely is the problem with LHR and it really does mask the problem of travel from the UK to the likes of Rio, Sao Paulo etc.

I travel frequently to Brasil and each time i book in at BHX for transit via AMS i ask how many people are doing the same thing. And the answer is invariably six, seven or more. And this is just one flight from Brum at 6am. I am sure if you multiply it up from all regional airports (and possibly even London itself) at various times of day via European hubs in Holland, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy and Germany then the number of people who are daily flying to South America by avoiding LHR must be vast. Clearly LHR is not catering for this market...

And as Butty refers to South America as 'the next big thing', then at some stage an airport outside London is going to break into this market. Over the next 10 years this market could be vast, someone is going to claim the honour.

I know where my hopes lie....

I agree entirely with your point also. It would be great to see the transfer figures of KLM, Iberia, AF, TP etc. to see connections from the UK regions to south and Latin America. The only problem is yields I suppose, even if the numbers are there, as the Brazilian, Venezuelan economies are extremely unstable, Rio de Janeiro, Peru, Cartagena are low yield tourist destinations and Santiago is a tech hub but also an extremely long flight which has only just been launched by BA using a 789. I know that Condor operates to Fortaleza, Recife and Rio in South America, so the best I think we could hope for at the moment, is some carrier like TCX or Norweigian to Rio, or the major destinations on the north-western coast of Brazil.

Also, considering BMI launched BRS-CAG, MAN-CAG and, more recently, BHX-GRZ, they could be a great candidate to serve Cagliari on a summer basis.

Short haul:
Personally I'd like to see some more routes to Scandinavia (Oslo & Helsinki, and Monarch sticking with the Stockholm service).
No particular destinations, but more routes from Jet2 would be good.
Having been in Berlin the last few days, some competition on this route would be welcome. Using Avios it was better value for us to fly BA Club from LHR than flyBe from BHX (not suggesting BA on this route but perhaps eurowings or Air Berlin could work?).

Long haul:
Really I'd just like to see BHX hold onto the long haul routes it has. Getting United to Newark to a daily service year round would be great! An occasional aircraft upgrade to a B767 in summer would be even better.
Assuming United remain the sole N.America throughout the next 12 months and assuming their Newark loads are good, I'd like to see discussions/rumours starting about a Chicago service.
Maybe being a bit optimistic but perhaps a seasonal service to Atlanta with Delta.
The return of the Chinese charters or even better a seasonal/full year service to China/Hong Kong would be a nice bonus.
Definitely agree with Ray on MCO.

Leisure destinations I would like to see Thessaloniki, Mykonos, Samos, La Palma? The new Eilat Airport for Winter sun? Agadir and Tangier, TOM RAK seems to do OK.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
