Ian's pax figures show just how badly more capacity to Orlando is needed, it's getting embarrassing now and I'm fed up of hearing people tell me that they're flying from elsewhere because 'they didn't know you could fly to America from BHX', or that 'having flights only on a Thursday means it's not an option', or that 'BHX flights are already sold out' or.......

Marrakesh (and to a lesser extent Agadir) is another destination that I am hearing about a lot, particularly from some of the Muslim community who holiday there. As soon as they say Morocco I can predict that they're using Ryanair from STN or LTN. I hope that this is one of their priorities for scheduled flights.

Given Rome was until recently not even served I believe, and now is served by just Monarch (I think daily over the summer period - although all but the Sunday flight depart before 8am - but only 3x per week outside of summer), would Rome (Ciampino) work for Ryanair? We could certainly do with a better frequency all year round.

I certainly agree with Rays comments wrt Orlando. I fear the problem is that Thomson are the only airline interested in serving the route. Thomas Cook and Virgin don't want to operate from BHX out of fear it will have a knock on effect to their flights from Manchester and Gatwick, and BA aren't operating long haul from the regions. Seems like we're stuck with Thomson for now - although the current situation is better than no Orlando flights!

I certainly hope Rome-Fuimicino is something Jet2 are eyeing up for Summer 18.

I hope so along with Budapest and Pisa.

I thought that Vueling may have shown an interest in Rome even at a lower frequency. I'd take Ryanair to Ciampino but they serve there from EMA which may put them off?

I still thing a LCC on Amsterdam, Munich, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Copenhagen, Geneva etc would work well for BHX

I can think of one that would most likely cover most of those from a Birmingham base, they're not interested though.

My updated list.

An Easyjet base and another couple of Ryanair aircraft could pretty much take care of most of the European services :(

Long haul

Singapore, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Beijing, Shanghai, Abu Dhabi, Mumbai, Atlanta, Chicago, Vancouver, Cuba, Mauritius, Aruba, Orlando, Las Vegas, Tehran.

Short haul

Riga, Pisa, Tel Aviv, Zagreb, Bilbao, Zadar, Bergamo, Brindisi, Lublin, Kosice, Helsinki, Marseille, Skopje, Thessaloniki, La Palma, Olbia, Derry, Basle, Oslo, Seville and/or Jerez, Iasi, Bacau.

Needs greater frequency/another carrier/scheduled flights

Berlin, Budapest, Athens, Florence, Valencia, Split, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Munich, Hamburg, Murcia, Almeria, Marrakech, Agadir, Nice, Venice, Biarritz, Geneva, Gdansk, Katowice, Naples, Rome, Sanford, Toronto, Zurich, Lisbon, Corfu, Kefalonia, Zakynthos, Kos, Catania, Pula.

They'd possibly come from the same places as those which we have seen in the recent growth spurt.

In 2013 we handled 9.1 million pax, this year we could be as high as 13.2 million. A four million passenger increase in as many years. To put that into context it's not far off the size of East Midlands.

In that time we added around 17 new airlines (okay two have since gone) plus had some major expansion from existing carriers, which is still ongoing.

If I'd have put all of that in a wish list in 2013 people would have said then "where will all the pax come from?" ;)

Helsinki - Finnair hopefully will annouce this, long overdue#
Seville - Lovely city, Jet2 or Monarch ?
Oslo - Capital city unserved !
Pisa - 2 or 3 pw would be great
Catania / Bilbao - would have to be Ryanair

Orlando & Toronto - crying out for more flights
BHX working hard to get Far East flights, not sure which would come first ?

For me it is as follows:

SHORT HAUL
Oslo
Helsinki
More Athens
More Berlin (Don't mind which Berlin airport either)
Seville
Tel Aviv

LONG HAUL
More Toronto
Las Vegas
SCOOT to Singapore now that Norweigan will serve LGW-Singapore
China Route (Don't Mind which city)

Given up on Orlando.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
