Air China, Asiana, China Eastern, China Southern, EVA Air, Garuda Indonesia, Korean Air, Malaysia Airlines, Philippine Airlines, Royal Brunei, Thai Airways and Vietnam Airlines. All are asian airlines that serve LHR but not MAN.

Didn't i read somewhere that the RD team we're in Singapore/Hong Kong and China the other week so maybe one of these is the east bound route .

Did I see somewhere that MAN is also in competition for this route which might rule out airlines likely to serve destinations already served from MAN - so Beijing and the Chinese carriers? Just a thought?

Please lets not spend months of posting names of Far Eastern airlines. We have all heard of them and its already
getting boring.Even the people i would regard as informed seem to giving this a wide berth.

Well well Asiana would never has guessed, what a coup for the BHX team.

How did you find out?

Personally I wouldn't be getting my hopes up for anything huge. It'll be great for the spotters but beyond that....... I'm not so sure.

My two hopes for Asia are Hong Kong Airlines and Scoot, both have been mentioned as targets.

Hong Kong Airlines have already said that they intend to use their freed up A330's on secondary routes into Europe, BHX fits the bill perfectly.

Scoot are steadily growing with Europe an eventual target. They are announcing a new long haul route on the 25th of this month (thought to be Singapore-Osaka-Honolulu) then another in 2018, lets pray that Birmingham is on their radar.

Oh sorry my mistake, Asiana is on the list by the way.

Countries to consider then, if not airlines could be;

Japan, Russia (Europe or Asia), Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka in addition to Jerry's airlines listing.

So am i right this has gone from a "very exciting" rumour to a "damp Squib" rumour in a matter of days ?

I thought that this carrier currently served LHR, is that not the case?

Can we have a new thread "FAR EAST RUMOURS"?
The Development and Rumours thread is always one I checked with interest when a new post was added. This being because of the posts being comparatively rare you felt they usually came from informed sources.
The USA debate went over the top and now i expect to see EasyVietnam have purchased 787's for their European ambitions...

Hi, I was born and lived in B36 for a long time - Lindale Avenue, just around the corner from Hodge Hill Comp.
I just noticed your postcode on a post.

Do you still live in the area?

49 trips undertaken last year. First done this year which was to North Wales where surprisingly the only slippery surfaces were in Conwy with the castle and it's walls closed due to the ice.
