A quick keyword sift and there are at least dozen+ articles in the last 6 months by diferent property consultants suggesting by general consensus that MANCHESTER is the hottest place to invest outside London.

Many are quoted in the South China Post.

The PR puff piece above is written for a potential " Birmingham Audience " by one specifc property consultant who i suspect has an agenda to flog a few low rise flats and is bigging up the market.

I don't want to burst your bubble Ray but I have selected a few random pieces below which bring things into sharper focus.

I can add another dozen if anybody is
interested :)

Oh I do ;)

I nearly didn't post the article as anything positive about Birmingham seems to be like a red rag to a bull to a certain subsection of the forum.

To say that it was written specifically with a Birmingham audience in mind is one thing, and I don't necessarily disagree, but to then quote an article from a website titled loveinmanchester, I mean????

If I had the inclination I could dig out articles stating that any region is the next hottest thing, lies damned lies.......

Anyway back to the original point that Birmingham is seeing an upward trajectory in investment and hopefully this gives the airport further ammunition in the quest for more services......

Nice one Ray. Aceshigh rather shot him/herself in the foot.

The RD team currently in Doha
Hopefully we will see something positive from Qatar, loads have been excellent lately
Considering EDI has been upgraded to an A350 and MAN also (i think) i wonder if that is their objective? Or would they go for a 2nd daily flight?

Thank you Ian for nudging us back towards the topic :)

My memory isn't perfect but I don't remember the RD team ever being so explicit about the airlines with whom they have been having discussions as they have been in recent weeks?

Cathay and Finnair were named alongside airBaltic in an article a shortish while ago. Perhaps they can afford to be more open about these particular airlines as there's not going to be much competition to Riga, Helsinki and Hong Kong?

As for Qatar, whether they upgrade the aircraft or increase the frequency might depend on what Emirates do. If Qatar make the first move it might hasten the re-introduction of the morning EK41/42 flight.

Also with the bad PR due to Primera lately naming airlines might help create a more positive vibe PR wise.

Although EDI is getting the A350, at the end of March it switches back to the B787. So as much as I'd like to see the A350 at BHX, I think we're more likely to see the B787-9 sometime after Qatar starts receiving them next year. If they do introduce a 2nd daily flight I suspect it would be on select days as to make either the morning or afternoon flight daily leaving the other as 3/4 weekly giving us 10/11 weekly flights.

Qatar loads yesterday QR35/6 191/239

Emirates yesterday EK39/40 455/601 & EK37/8 508/610 and this morning
EK39 535

Whats going on with Air India Ian, any gossip ?

There is a rumour going around that change could be around the corner ??? Saturday flight is looking dodgy as fares are showing high ?

Now come , come Roy, you old royster joyster, yes I did include the LoveManchester ref but to be fair they themselves were simply para-phrasing other references, there are a myriad refs to other sites which are gushing in relation to this topic.

I prefer however to look at actuality over potential and there are 30 towers currently going up in Manchester as of now, in fact two already erected ressemble the twin towers, tangible proof that investment is ALREADY here.

.....and the poster who suggested he wanted to read the Birmingham thread SPECIFICALLY to read about about BIRMINGHAM, "Well hang on" , surely we are not so insular that we can quote Manchester comparisons in one breath with reference to routes but then cry foul regarding mega investment in MANCHESTER in the next :)

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
