A friend of mine has recently started working for TAP Portugal as a pilot. As part of a big recruitment drive, they are looking to expand their TATL market from Lisbon & introduce a new low cost model. Has anyone heard about this? Maybe one to watch as they may be looking to introduce feeder routes...

I'd heard that TAP were looking to increase their status as the western most city in mainland Europe to make Lisbon more of a hub for TATL flights. In the past people have mentioned how slot constrained Lisbon is though so not sure how they'll be able to expand that much...?

I would not bank on TAP they have said on many occasions they are not interested in BHX as it would dilute their MAN & London flights
I really struggle to understand this argument they and other airlines put up. As Lisbon is served from Bristol.Luton.Stansted.Manchester and Heathrow by competing airlines, some more than one, would they not be diluting their competitors loads as well.
If they want transit passengers to S.America they can dilute Air France ,Lufthansa. KLM.
Is the truth they are walking a tightrope with their UK ops and with all the competition and are not in a position to take risks however small?

Not that I know of and they are increasing MAN ops next summer from 12 a week to 13 a week and the EMBs are very rare now

I see an article in routes online about Air Baltic, they have big expansion plans .... NO BHX mentioned but in the recent past even the airport route development team mentioned them directly, would be a good airline & nice destination.

There will be some good news soon :)
Oh gawd.Here we go again
Is it good news for spotters or the people who would to use the airport if the routes were available and are not in the least concerned about what aircraft they are on?
Is soon being used in the same context as a Bham City Council or Highways Authority construction project?
