Could be some route news soon
Looking bright !

I just wonder if this might be an airline that our new CEO Nick Barton dealt with at Luton, you would hope with his years experience dealing with the likes of Wizzair, Easyjet, maybe even El Al at Luton, he will have good contacts/relationships with these airlines, and could encourage them, with the right deal to give BHX a shot, after all he's been here for 6 months now, so should know what direction he want to take the airport and have a big input in route development?

Hi there Ray and all, if I were interested in setting up an airline business, how much would you think it would cost me to land and take off from Birmingham Airport then
Are you thinking of re-starting Court Line, which was a part of the Clarkson's travel group?

I agree Matt. I think I said it in my first post on Mr Barton's appointment that he can lever in his relationships with those airlines that prospered so much at LTN. I would take a base by either Wizz or Squeasyjet or both. Not sure about El Al.

The lack of a Tel Aviv route is a tad odd. Big city to big city, but I don't think the whole of Scotland is served right now, so demand no doubt sluggish outside of the capital and MAN capturing the north.

LY would be nice but their security requirements may be restrictive as they have set standards which (to some) may seem excessive. As far as I am concerned how they run their business is up to them. I feel that BHX would struggle to offer a suitable solution for both passenger and cargo screening. Bearing in mind how much of a target LY have been historically I feel their attitude to security is admirable.

But Luton could meet their standards?

Quieter airport with less long haul operations and (to my knowledge) no middle east carriers. I would also be very surprised if LY took ANY cargo from Luton.

Possible new route on the horizon? Dundee are after flights to Birmingham :)

Research compiled by the Dundee and Angus Chamber of Commerce showed high demand for a return of the direct flight to the heart of the UK’s capital, as well as routes to Belfast in Northern Ireland and Birmingham in the Midlands.

“Businesses are also calling for more routes in and out of Dundee, from Birmingham and Belfast to onward overseas connections, we need to ensure that not only do we have a strong and well-used London connection, but that we look to build the use of the airport by encouraging carriers to bring other routes into the frame.

Bugger - I've been rumbled
Never mind good while it lasted !

DND was served a while back with S340s and Dornier 328s when Loganair was a Flybe franchisee, and then dropped with the airline citing a combination of poor loads and high fuel costs.

I can see Loganair starting more services from DND in the future but the sceptic in me feels that they would be more likely to try EMA as they already have an operation there (and it has also been rumoured that BHX is likely to lose out to EMA if Loganair's expansion plans for LDY come to fruition).

You may well be right but BHX should not be loosing out to EMA these days. Earlier today there has been a post about the link between
HS2 and the airport.EMA are still trying to make the road to their entrance a dual carriageway.

I think LRH and ZAD must be the favourites for 2021, if ZAD works this year that is.

There are slots available for BHX-AMS and BHX-CDG. Word is that one particular airline jumped in straight away but how many of those slots they were after I don't know. If there are a some left over Jet2 may fancy a couple of weekly city break flights.

"One particular airline" but "WHICH particular airline?"

There is one interesting development (and thanks to Pete for the info) in that CDG has always been bookable at 6x daily for 11 or so months in advance but as of next summer the Air France website now only shows 3x daily flights, so it appears that something may well be happening.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
