Correct me if I wrong, Are XLR s delayed with certification issues? Extra fuel tank creating problems I understood!
I believe there was/is an issue with the central tank, located in the wingbox. This requires more protection in case of a belly landing. Obviously adding protection is likely to add weight.

Could Pakistan Airlines operations be in doubt from BHX?. An agreement to codename with Turkish Airlines via Istanbul to BHX bas been requested.

PIA are launching flights to Istanbul from Islamabad and Lahore, so hopefully its just a case of connecting passengers to Lahore and more options for flights to Islamabad.

PIA are also leasing out most of their LHR slots to Turkish Airlines for this winter season so sounds like there's some sort of relationship developing between the two airlines.

I've been wondering the same myself. I believe that they have had their CAA check flight, so wonder if it's just paperwork to be done. They did hint that they would use the aircraft for charter work prior to starting schedules to India.

ukaviation.news had a brief write up a couple of days ago on the basis of them now recruiting cabin crew. It said they were looking to start ops by the end of the year. Also mentioned on bhxspotters.proboards.com.

The published timetable for PIA flights to/from Istanbul shows aircraft arriving between 1315 and 1330 departing around 1500. This means through connections to EDI, BHX and MAN appear to be unavailable. Only LHR has a late departure from IST and an early morning return to IST.

So would mean Turkish airlines could upgrade their aircraft to Birmingham

Of those, the ones I think have the best chance of happening are Loganair to Derry (there have been noises from Derry Airport management for several years but no result so far), TUI to Goa, or Flybe to Newquay. Flybe is a good shout for Berlin as is Eurowings. Sibiu isn’t a TUI route but I wouldn’t be surprised if Wizz launched it.

Why would upgrading the aircraft help? It is the timings which do not work.

Jet2 is a holiday airline. Why would they fly to any of those destinations?
There not just a holiday airline though are they? They do also have a citybreak side which is more ideal for those routes that were mentioned. Yes they seem more focused on the holiday market but these still plenty of opportunities in the citybreak market aswell.

No mention of BHX but a few interesting points:

"The airline saw a 20 per cent increase in demand this past summer compared to 2019 and is betting on future growth with its new schedule."

"and the airline will also return to Stockholm with a B757-200 service from Newark – the airline served the Swedish city from 2005 to 2019"

So Stockholm is getting EWR back having lost it in 2019. BHX lost EWR in 2017 so maybe give it another 2 years and we may see United back at BHX? Maybe with a A321XLR...?

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
