Fridays do tend to be and gloom days for announcements. The prospect of this fantastic initiative can hardly be described as either doom or gloom. Don't rule out Monday or Tuesday for the reveal.

Hi there ray and all, I think Birmingham airport situation at present is because there is no Chief Executive in place still at the airport yet at the moment, this will cause an imbalance within the organization as there's no one yet in charge to take an responsibility and make those big announcements when needed.. AndyC

I'd suggest that Ray Finkle is volunteered to make BHX's announcements until at least a new CEO is appointed.

Big announcement on Tuesday and great news for BHX. Actually i havn't got a clue but if i had just posted
the first sentence i'm sure it would be picked up on and the rumours/wishes would roll on.
As you might tell i'm a bit p****d off for falling for the Friday announcement posts.Fool me once etc.

Me too.

I found it odd that an announcement such as this would be made on a Friday, as said by others, Friday is always bad news day. Others elsewhere seemed very confident though so I sort of got my hopes up. We'll see what happens next week.

its one of those things where I'd rather not know until they announce it, it would be horrible if nothing came of it now. Then again with that logic, what is the point in me being on a route development forum haha
Agreed Callum. Its when people start start elaborating on the rumour as if with authority that annoys me.

Yes, sorting the truth from a credible source, from the speculation of enthused 'bhx fans' is difficult. But then again the speculation is always positive and that's part of the reason why I can't stay away from forums4airports, it gets addictive! It's the horrible feeling when what is discussed doesn't come to light, that's the worst part.

I can understand the frustration but if it's only official conformation of routes, times, frequencies etc that is wanted then it's probably best to stay away from forums such as this and just keep an eye on the news.

There are posters on this forum who have some very good contacts and the information given is more often than not fairly accurate, but, the fact remains that there are probably only a handful of people who know exactly what is going on and you can bet that they won't be posting details on an open, public forum.

My instincts say that the poster on the other forum who said that the announcement was today did so in good faith and who knows, maybe it was scheduled for this week but has been delayed for any number of reasons. If we remember Paul Kehoe confirmed on Twitter that our very own Qatar Airways announcement had been delayed by a week. It happens.

In the end who cares if we hear today, next Tuesday or on October the 29th, just as long as it happens? Sit back, enjoy the speculation, don't take it all too seriously and be pleasantly surprised when we see that official announcement posted :)

6-8 Qatar A320's due into STN

source Pprune – Has MOL put his hand in his pocket and paid to lease them in other rumour they are on standby for MON and ATOL renewal.

The Ryanair rumour is more credible.

Ian
I'd be surprised at that as Qatar aircraft have a premium/business class. I'd have thought they'd be more suitable for BA or maybe Thomas Cook as both have at least 2 class aircraft.

I believe there is another Thomas Cook strike next week not sure of the date and maybe BA are expecting one soon?

Prune now saying it's Stewart re New York ( or maybe in quoting NYC that was presumed anyway).

Does that work ?

At least you have something to discuss and speculate on at BHX. It's fairly quiet on the MAN thread just now and I notice a few of our regulars are posting on here.
Has a new CEO for BHX been appointed yet or is recruitment still in progress?

Funnily enough this was mentioned on here earlier in the week, we've heard absolutely nothing.

It's almost three months since Paul Kehoe stepped down and with a pretty major master plan on the horizon many thought that a new appointment would happen swiftly.

It does seem to be a long time to wait for an announcement, in any event PK will be a hard act to follow.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
