Thanks for the info Dobbo.

It still would be nice if one of the 6 airlines is Easyjet even using away based aircraft, better than nothing but will all 6 airlines use the slots ???

6 airlines - Primera, Jet2, Ryanair, TUI, Thomas Cook and ......

Speculation on the MAN thread that easyJet will be going from 12 based to 18 (50% increase). Regardless of whether or not that actually happens, the fact that the collapse of Monarch has opened up slots at both MAN & BHX, and rumours have surface of EZY expanding at MAN but not BHX suggest to me that EZY have zero interest in serving BHX. Granted expanding an existing base in easier than opening a new one, but it would mean basing 6 more aircraft at MAN. Even with 2 based at BHX, EZY could still serve a large market here.

There's also speculation that Vueling will open a base at MAN. Whilst a base at BHX would be good news, I just hope we have a greater Vueling presence than just Barcelona next summer

Even with Primera announcing new routes to Malaga and Palma, BHX is still 2 airlines down to 'sunny' destinations:

Summer 17 - Thomas Cook, TUI, Jet2, Ryanair, Monarch, Vueling, Norwegian

Summer 18 - Thomas Cook, TUI, Jet2, Ryanair, Primera

It will be interesting when, sorry if, the October stats are released what impact Monarch has had. Extra capacity from other airlines took a while to come in, so if October sees no growth or only a a slight reduction, things may not be so bad.

I can understand your doubts thunder, really i can but look at Norweigan at LGW, they have a similar portfolio from that airport even though on a much larger scale and all operates fine, they have sun routes that mingle with long haul routes so why not Primera ?

You say there could be one more destination going but then in the same breath we are saying BHX could have a new long haul destination before christmas so i suppose its all ifs and buts on both sides. But yeah i agree im very nervous about 2018.

The new long haul route is not Primera and a much better colour scheme !

I wonder if Norwegian (who apparently still hold the slots for their MAN-Spain routes) could be re-evaluating BHX as Vueling seem to be doing. Or perhaps Blue Air might be interested in starting a base?

It's also good to hear about Ryanair potentially growing as they could plug a lot of gaps in our network if they wanted - even one additional aircraft operating two rotations a day could be used to start up to seven new 2x weekly routes or four new 3x weekly routes.

If it is confirmed will we be impressed or will it be a series of charters ?? I love these games and as the BHX forum has been a bit dire with news recently i see no harm in a bit of speculation. :cautious:

At least it gets us talking about the stuff that really interests us.

How come you never give us a heads up on this stuff ?

Or is it Ian for BHX and User for MAN ?

Because I respect the confidentiality of the info provider. On the MAN thread it’s info I’ve either obtained myself or have permission to share, so that’s the difference. Doesn’t mean I still can’t have fun with it.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
