After Virgin started LHR flights the Minister of Tourism and International Transport in Barbados has targeted Birmingham.

The Minister said Barbados’ marketing team in the UK is constantly seeking opportunities to get new flights coming to Barbados out of that source market.

“What we are doing is looking at other areas where we can get new growth. We are appealing to other areas of the market. We are coming out of Gatwick, we are coming out of Manchester, we are coming out of Heathrow, but we are not going to rest there.

“We had some discussions some time ago with the Birmingham City Council. There is a big airport in Birmingham as well…, Sealy said

I believe TUI will fly 4x weekly to BGI in W18/19. Was it only 3x weekly this winter?

Was 3 this winter, cruise flights 2 for P&O and 1 for Tui,s own ship pretty sure you can only book as a cruise package as the shipping line effectively charters the whole flight. Don't know if its 4 per week next winter.

When we went last year there was a whole row of Tui and Thomas Cook on the apron at Barbados all for P&O.

Actually it all seems to have gone quiet regarding Uzbekistan.

With Air India increasing and Qatar looking to be improving slightly (and with CWL starting tomorrow) I'm not sure that it would be a bad thing if they didn't come to BHX anytime soon. I'd much prefer Air India to carry on with their growth and maybe see something from Qatar too?

BGI was 3x weekly last winter and is showing 4x weekly this winter.

There are the usual Fri and Sat cruise flights along with services on Thur and Sun. The Thur and Sun flights are bookable as flight only or as part of a package holiday.

Indeed Helsinki Lisbon Iceland Gibralter Oslo Valencia Seville and a few others would be good !!!!
Indeed. What i am struggling to understand is that airports seem to be relying more on retail and rip off car parking charges for their revenue.Surely regular flights to destinations like this would provide more footfall (Sad but that is
what it has come down to) than chasing another couple of flights a week to India.
Don't get me wrong i am pleased to see the increase by Air India bur maybe priorities need to be reviewed.

If they can get Lisbon or Valencia for 2019 I will book.

Next year I'm seriously considering using EMA for Valencia, I haven't used any other UK airport than Birmingham since 2003 :(

:wideyed:

Dont blame you Ray, If BHX dont get there hat together soon and start filling those missing routes, so will Brum X. Why should us folk in the Birmingham area (Sorry never say West Midlands :vomit:) miss out on travelling all over Europe and not just the beaches becouse OUR airport cannot serve its people.

Give them time!!.. still many months left to confirm new routes for summer 2019 !

I'm not saying they will merely that we don't yet know ....

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
