Agree, assuming they start this winter, pretty much a two year build, so a sizeable project. If the aim is an increase in capacity from 14 to 18 mppa that is almost 30% increase in capacity which is a decent start in improving the passenger experience

Page 12 has got Tom Screens quote. Also mentions Cathay, Baltic and Finnair, plus a terminal expansion to be ready by September 2020
Is this terminal development just a 'tag on' growth project? How does it fit with the master plan?
BHX really needs to announce the new CEO (we've been told ages ago that one has been appointed) and unveil the master plan.
BHX lagging behind the developments at other UK and European airports is not acceptable.

but how accurate is this information? Would Tom Screen really announce what airlines BHX are in discussion with? Always a danger that another UK airport might step in at the last minute and offer a better deal?

and terminal expansion? Wouldn't this information be included in our delayed Master Plan, which has yet to be formally released yet?

Personnally I wouldn't read to much into this article!

From what I had heard recently the only thing in the article which surprised me was Air Baltic
BHX was struggling last year with some months around 1.5m which is effectively 18m pax pa
So in a way this year being down around 6% has helped to relieve the pressure.
This building work will hopefully allow BHX to grow again in 2019 and beyond.

Going by the rumours

Air Arabia Maroc has been rumoured for over 12 months, it will be good to see it finally announced.
Cathay Pacific, not before 2020/21 if it happens.
Finnair, well how long has this one rumbled on for?
Air Baltic, first mention I've heard of them but it would be good to see Riga back.
Munich should see an extra rotation added at some point.

After a tough few months it's good to finally hear some positive talk again. Lets just hope there are discussions over transatlantic as I think most of us will be shocked if Primera return.

From what I am now hearing don’t bank on Primera !!
I know you cannot divulge what might be confidential information Ian but i was thinking of booking a short break
in Barcelona in October.Do you think i might get a good deal with Primera or might i be better off booking with
one of the other operators?

From what I am now hearing don’t bank on Primera !!
Why, oh why, oh why does this keep happening at BHX?
From outstanding growth of new carriers just a few years ago, we are now seeing rapid contraction. Not just the loss of the new carriers, but also that of long established ones.
One of the most glaring losses was Icelandair. This appears to have happened almost instantly, which would point to dissatisfaction by the airline with some BHX policy.
Then we have the losses on the trans Atlantic routes. United Airlines, American Airlines and Air Transat all gone in a very short time frame. For what? Did BHX management put so much faith in a new unproven airline (who didn't even have the aircraft required) that they lost established airlines?
I realise that BHX is run as a business and has to answer to it's shareholders, but if I were a shareholder I would be pretty livid right now! They also have a responsibility to their employees and customers.
BHX seem to have lost more services over the last couple of years than all other UK airports combined. Surely, they should be working with airlines and nurturing new routes, rather than taking a short term view.
I really hope that this rudderless ship gets a strong, determined and decisive new CEO ASAP!

Kevin

Well said Kevin. If they did throw everything into Primera at the expense of others then I hope their due diligence on Primera was sound. There is a reason why the Neos were so late.....

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
