Should be an exciting few months ahead for the airport then.
Let's hope the airports PR team get back to the twitter posts of anything positive about the airport. That was how I found out about the daily A380.
Imagine telling a BHX supporter 8+ years ago that the airport would have a twice daily A380 service. They'd of looked at you gone out.

I'm feeling optimistic for westerly and eastern routes all of a sudden! Haven't had this much anticipation for something to be announced at BHX for what feels like a long time. Back to getting ahead of myself before anything concrete! :D

So that's 2019 written off

And even you said recently 58 BHX needs to sort its infrastructure out first before getting carried away with lots of new routes and new airlines that the airport cant cope with. 2019 should see us return to where we were last year so this will be a good result and hopefully we will have the extension in place for 2020 to welcome all these new top class airlines like Cathay. ;)

This is a very interesting account of an interview with the new Easyjet ceo. He gives his view on the direction that EJ want to take in their growth strategy but includes some interesting views on capacity and yields post demise of Monarch and Air Berlin
Nothing specific with regard to BHX but perhaps some insight into his view of the market place in general and how EJ will operate in the short and longer term. He rules out EJ becoming a long haul operator until their market share reaches 30% ( current 10%) but he says they are targeting Italy with other growth opportunities sufficient from current countries of operations ( and BREXIT doesnt worry him.........)

Hmm, sounds like good news for those with token easyjet presences then, a la BHX :)

(Also good for those who’ve just lost their token EZ presence...Cough...LBA...Cough)
Sorry, old allegiances:sneaky:

I somehow doubt it is.

Thinking about it, you are probably right, EZ have just expanded at MAN and in Europe, MXP had some new announcements I think, was being too optimistic, got ahead of myself, apologies.
Nothing wrong with optimistic! I'm just in a pessimistic mood today!
Especially when it comes to Easyjet and Ryanair!

Hmmm.. is that some sort of cryptic reference to a certain Eastern European LCC expanding?

Or maybe a certain UK regional carrier? (Though I doubt this given their current financial state)
What LCC has purple livery?

I was going for Wizz Air. surely the OP can’t mean Flybe given their current situation, I’m happy to be proven wrong though.

Oh,and HK Express are also an LCC with a purple livery, but its 100% not them as they are based in SE Asia with A320s.

Well with Wizz setting up their UK ops and doing training flights to BHX recently, that seems like a movement in the right direction

Flybe set their stall out as happy with what they have so can't see much from them?

I don't think BHX needs easyJet, very controversial comment but we already seem to attract too much low-cost traffic. easyJet would only add to a very saturated bucket and spade market. I don't see them operating city hops from BHX. We already have the major capitals covered. I can't quite see what EZY would offer (that the airport lacks or doesn't already have) but I'm sure others would 10000% disagree with me on that

I'm not sure looking East or West, I've heard nothing from backhand rumours let alone something concrete. However, I (try to) remain optimistic.

Im sorry Glider but i dont agree with you on this. Dont get me wrong having a bigger Wizz Air operation or even a base would be awesome but i think Easyjet would be better, just becouse more people know about Easyjet rather than Wizz air.

Also BHX still does not have european capitals covered which is very poor for an airport and city region of our size and status, including Oslo, Stockholm, Athens, Lisbon, Zagreb, Keflavik, Helsinki, Riga etc etc

Fair point Brum X, I still think BHX has carriers with the potential to operate those routes if the market was there for it. If there was surely RYR and Flybe would've scooped at least some of these up a long time ago?

However, I would not under any circumstance turn my nose up at easyJet if they decided to launch some routes from BHX because any growth is good growth (I think...)

Nothing against easyJet, I want to fly for them one day. I just think BHX can easily make up those markets with other airlines if the demand is there

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
