Birmingham it could be. But I also think Liverpool and Teesside could have a chance.

For Liverpool because Sun Express have recently been having discussions with LPL
Teesside because there’s hint of a new airline there next year.

BHX could also be one but who knows.

Not quite sure why my post was moved as what I was staying was that the routes are not currently operating and have been delayed on all UK departures to end of May 2022 which were originally from end of October this year

Perhaps, if you had stated that it applied to all UK departures rather than just a blunt Manchester reference in a Birmingham thread it may not have been moved .

As with 2021, any new routes for Summer 2022 will still be until we get closer to Spring 2022 and we know what damage Covid has caused this coming winter.

Im not even sure I am going to bother booking my holiday after christmas like I normally do, might wait until the spring when we will know how Summer is going to pan out.

That's how my wife and I feel at the moment. We're not rushing in to book overseas trips until next year appears to have more clarity.

Agreed I don't plan to book anything until around 2022 & might so to Greece in Augsut 2022 or push it back to earily 2023. When travel is hopefully more easier then it currently is. But it will be intresting to see if BHX can get new airlines & routes in with serge in demand.

You're free to think what you want, but its not so much hard to travel at the moment, but maybe slightly extra hassle.

For Greece, entry requirements are a passenger locator form, and proof of either full vaccination or a negative test 72hrs prior to arrival.

For the UK, entry requirements are a passenger locator form, proof of full vaccination and a take a lateral flow test within 2 days of arrival (non red list)

Basically, if you're fully vaccinated (don't know if you are, and I'm not asking), it'll take 10/15 minute to fill in the forms, and you can get a lateral flow test for under £50.

Don't know what your personal situation is, but delaying travel for potentially 18 months to save 15 minutes on admin and £50 on a test seems like more hassle than what you need to do to travel now.

I completely agree with this, managed to go to EFL and IBZ in last couple of months, as I’ve already said on this forum both countries felt so much safer than here. 15 mins of forms and a lateral flow test so no real issues there. Off to TPA next month and it’ll be interesting to see if the US is as easy.

Cost is nothing to do with it as far as I'm concerned. It's the uncertainty of not knowing if flights/holidays will go ahead months from now. My wife and I had a holiday to Scotland postponed on three occasions.

My wife and I have three holidays booked two flying and one cruise next year all ABTA bonded, covid covered etc we have decided at our age to make the best of it although my wife is more cautious than me I'm more sod it as the clocks ticking and all that.

Our two son are on board with it so we're off all being well.

Yes uncertainty is the main problem.

I've been away 3 times during the pandemic. Each time we booked a hotel with free cancellation up to 48 hours before arrival, and booked flights fairly last minute (within a few weeks of our holiday).

I think once we get through this winter, and any restrictions that were introduced are withdrawn, we should see confidence in booking further out get back to more normal levels.

Even pre-pandemic, unless it was long haul, we'd generally only book holidays a few months in advance.

According to this tweet Middle East airline Kuwait airways applied for Birmingham slots to operate 2 weekly flights ( I presume to Kuwait City) but weren’t taken up. Shame.
