I believe from previous reports PLAY did have slots but then took them out and went for MAN

They also pulled Manchester slots at the same time BHXs went.

Looks like they may have re submitted MAN ones.BHX ACL report not yet out..

Well there’s no competition for transatlantic routes at BHX so depending on the destinatio, they’d have a captive market.

Strange they want to operate from both LPL and MAN being so close together. Unless they drop LPL ?

Haven’t heard anything about LPL being dropped, however I do agree with the 2 airports being very close to each other

Better to chase markets like BHX & LBA that have literally no US offering (minus MLB for BHX)

Fully agreed......BHX would be the correct choice for Play. Pretty desperate of them if they go for Manchester

But we know airlines don't always start new route because of location or demand. Play would more than likely having been talking to BHX, LBA, MAN and "playing" them off against each other re operating cost. We all know that BHX's costs are reported to be pretty high, MAN would most likely be in a better postion to offer them a cheaper deal, ie lower landing costs, handling costs, passenger costs per head etc., and a better incentive to operate say over 2 years, and usually at the end of day, the airline will most likely pick the cheapest option!! Will be interesting to watch which UK airport Play does decided on, if any! Lets hope BHX can pull it off!

Yes agree,

Many lower cost airlines will just go to the airport that offers them the cheapest deal for the longest time.

Given the fact that RYR has just based 2 additional a/c at BHX over the last 12 months and EZY has just announced it will open a new 3 a/c base at BHX from 2024, can we please put to bed the idea that BHX is an expensive airport. If that were the case in the past, it certainly isn't now!

You're full of optimism for your local airport aren't you, but every other airport will seem to do badly or you want them to do badly. How about you keep your pessimistic remarks to yourself and let other airports prosper and serve their community to the best of their ability. Always the same old armchair CEO's putting other regions down.....I just don't get it .....why?

I want every airport to do well!

Sadly, we have to face the truth that PLAY are not performing very well at all on their current UK routes. I don’t see this changing
