It is same article about Delta but TTG are a well respected Travel Gazette so hopefully there is some traction on a potential new US service to BHX (no other airport got a mention :)
Especially with delta being a major supporter for the football teams, if delta should start, my eyes are all on the 767s

The B767s are gradually being withdrawn. There's no way that Delta would start a new transatlantic route with an old B767.

Delta will retire their fleet of B763 by 2028 with the B764s going by 2030.

Prior to their eventual retirement, the B767s will remain on high capacity routes, offering multiple daily flights such as DTW and JFK to LHR.

The A321XLR is the aircraft that Delta would probably use if indeed they started BHX. The A321XLR is currently listed as replacing the B767s on several transatlantic routes.

I would rather focus east than west like bring back Islamabad,Increase Indian flights and maybe get a Chinese route on the go.

It won’t be at least 5 years till we see transatlantic flights to America.World cup is in America next and all I can see is charters not year round flights .

However delta and bcfc have a massive bond so who knows

Pretty sure Delta cancelled their XLR order ?

My mistake I got it mixed up with American Airlines 😲

Nonetheless I can't see Delta using a B767 on a new transatlantic flight considering their impending retirement.

I had mistaken but Delta didn't order any A321XLR so none were actually cancelled. Delta ordered the A321Neo.

I have no doubt that Delta will eventually order the A321XLR as there are a lot of B757s and B767s to replace.

The current route map for the Delta A321Neo.

Not sure about the massive bond - its a sponsorship deal at the end of the day - nobody knows how much and nobody knows for how long.

Perhaps the BCFC owner and Delta CEO are squash buddies and after a game together it was like yeah we'll give you £100k to put our badge on your shirt.

Now if they're going to rename St Andrews to the Delta Arena and pay £50 million a year for that then that's a massive bond!!

Yes, to be clear there is NO MASSIVE bond between BCFC and Delta. There is a basic/standard sponsorship deal and we have no reason to believe its anything else.

The value in the sponsorship is that it has now started a conversation. That has value in itself, but that is where the value ends. Hopefully that conversation can lead to something, but that will be based on hard bargaining, negotiations and strong business/commercial cases....NOT a football sponsorship deal! Anyone who suggests otherwise is living on another planet!

If everything built at the wheels site is going to come under American ownership then its a massive piece of work however I have this bet running with a mate of what opens first, HS2 or the Sports Quarter.

I'm getting old now but I'd like to see HS2, I'd like to see the new Blues ground and I'd like to be able to fly from Birmingham to JFK (again!) before I'm too old!!

Anyway before someone tells me off for 'off topic' I'll stop here.

An astute move on Delta’s part would be to notice the hole TUI have left and launch MCO-BHX. They already fly MCO to LHR and AMS, and with VS covering MAN/EDI, what’s not to say they wouldn’t try BHX too, they’ll have it all to themselves

No chance.Numbers weren’t demandable and profitable on the MLB route

I believe it was partly for cruise passengers. MLB is close to Port Canaveral.

Cruise charters and i suspect MLB would have offered TUI a nice discount to get them to seal the deal. The consequence, TUI now pretty much unable to sell any space seats to members of the public wanting to fly to Florida as its miles away from everything else....

Hmm, pity nobody seemed to differ the flights i.e for cruises go to MLB and for your Disney mob offer a flight to MCO.

With Tui you are signing up for the complete package aren't you so a cruise and a flight package would have been MLB and Disney / Orlando central would have been MCO.

TUI only flies to one airport in Florida ….MLB …regardless if you’re on a package cruise or a Disney holiday!

While Orlando is past its peak from years back it is atill a significant market from the UK with BA,Virgin and US carriers all serving MCO.

TUI have not helped themselves over the years switching from MCO which is close to Disney to SFB 1hr away then to MLB 11/2hrs away all in the cause of a cheape deal but a pourer customer experience.

Fly with TUI and this is your process.
Arrive at BHX three hrs before your 9hr plus flight arrives at MLB queue for immigration always fun in the USA then collect bags then que for customs then que for your included hire car (no coach transfers)..Having done that and possibly now getting a bit jet lagged drive at least an hour and a half or so depending on where your accommodation is, by the way cruise passengers do get a coach transfer to the ship.

So could a Delta service work, well not likelybut possibly summer only say three weekly to MCO if tied in with Disneys holidays. Personally I think if anything is to come from Delta I'd be looking at year round JFK but I'm not holding my breath.

If Delta do anything from BHX it wont be to MCO. I would expect it to be in to Atlanta, from whence you can get to all of the Floridian airports subject to your specific requirements, with one of many flights to all of them every day. Or, indeed, pretty much anywhere else in the US.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
