Lets hope by 'best routes ever' he means there were some positive discussions where we may hear some good news over the coming months and not that the champagne on offer was a particular fine variety :)

WORLD ROUTES: Birmingham Airport Celebrates ‘Best Routes Ever’

The UK airport is growing quickly and the recent extension of its Runway has opened up additional long-haul opportunities for the airport. We spent a little time with Paul Kehoe during the recent World Routes in Chicago to learn more about the latest developments at Birmingham Airport and learnt that this year’s forum will probably prove to be its “best Routes ever”.

Birmingham and Leeds have both reappeared on the Vueling website under both the 'airports' and the 'timetables' sections but as before nothing is bookable and no destinations are listed.

Both have now disappeared from the above.......again, they do however both still appear on the 'customised' list :s_dunno

Germania is to operate one of the Ibiza flights for Thomson in Summer 15.

At least this is something different to look forward to.

At the moment it appears Germania will also be operating a Thursday flight to Enfidha for summer 2015.

Re: Route Development & Airport Rumours

There's rumours on other forums that AA will be back at BHX next summer. We've been here before with AA rumours so I'll believe it when I see it.

Re: Route Development & Airport Rumours

Interesting if AA return, especially if you consider that ORD-MAN is being reduced late winter early spring next year.Traditionally this is a strong performer so it may suggest some consolidation either in the whole AA network or UK ops.
Like Ray i'll believe it when it is or if it is announced.

Re: Route Development & Airport Rumours

It will be great though to have AA back, its about time United had some healthy competition and it would really boost BHX ready for 2015.

Re: Route Development & Airport Rumours

It would be great to have AA back, and whilst I don't want to be a party pooper, I'm sure roughly this time last year there was a 'strong rumour' that BHX was 'nailed on' for a service for summer 2014. As said by BrummieGem I'll believe it when I see it.

Re: Route Development & Airport Rumours

The rumour from a "reliable" source is saying JFK or PHL ???????

Which one would you prefer ???

Lets discuss.

I for one would like to see JFK back at BHX, this is a massive world famous airport and a massive AA Hub.

Re: Route Development & Airport Rumours

Dunno if im reading too much into this but BHX now appears in the drop down list on the AA website. Why would BHX be on there unless there is an announcement soon, it offers no codeshare flights as far as i am aware. We are not a Oneworld airport ?????

The only realistic options are PHL or JFK on a 757 or ORD on a 767. Given that the latter is very unlikely it can only be between PHL or JFK.

I'd be happy with either but if I had to choose one I'd probably say JFK shades it, it's also a destination BHX seemingly want.

If I had the option though I'd take Delta to ATL over both of those but beggars can't be choosers :)

I wouldn't get too excited just yet, BHX also appears on the Malaysia Airlines drop down list as the only UK airport other than LHR and has done for some time.

Re: Route Development & Airport Rumours

BHX has appeared in the AA booking engine for a few year now.

No idea why, however, as its never offered a codeshare to get there (however, its worth pointing out Newquay also appears on the AA website with no flights, and I think we can confidently say AA will not be serving NQY any time soon

Re: Route Development & Airport Rumours

Do airlines add destinations to their website drop down menus to see how many hits they get to gage demand? Bear in mind we've seen BHX and LBA recently displayed as destination options on the Vueling website too.

Re: Route Development & Airport Rumours

Possibly but on the Malaysian Airlines website BHX has been alongside LHR for quite a while as the only two UK airports in the drop down list. I think it's safe to say Malaysian aren't looking at starting BHX and if it was for connections then there would be numerous airports listed, in fact as a Oneworld vacuum BHX could possibly be the only one not listed :dunno:

AA/US Rumour Latest:

Rumour over the weekend was PHL/ORD on alternating days using an A333!

Mmmmmmmmmmmm now that would be interesting and on a A333.

Re: Route Development & Airport Rumours

Sounds more like a spotters Christmas wish. I don't think there is much chance we'll be seeing an A333, unless there has been a big contract signed for the cargo space.

If, and it's a very big if, AA/US return I think it'll be a 757 to JFK, but, without trying to be negative, we seem to get the same rumour every year.

I'd dearly love to be proven wrong though :good:

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
