Re: Route Development & Airport Rumours

I would love to see CSA return on the Prague route. They were doing ok,but I think with BMI baby also on the route and CSA trying to increase capacity at the time(some days had 2 flights operating),maybe it was too much too soon. Then of course they pulled the plug on all uk flights.
Ironically if they had continued the daily service, they might just have cleaned up on the route as BMI was soon to disappear anyway. As per usual we then end up with no flight to one of the more attractive eastern European cities.
This is an airline and route that I think would fit very nicely at BHX right now,I really hope it happens. :s_tongue

Re: Route Development & Airport Rumours

Agree the return of CSA would be ideal. Liverpool seems a strange choice though, Wizz tried and dropped it and with Easy and Jet2 having the route covered from MAN you have to wonder if the demand will be there.

I do hope BHX have at least tried as PRG is still a massive hole in the network.

Re: Route Development & Airport Rumours

LPL have also bagged Ryanair to Oslo which, again, with MAN offering SAS and Norwegian flights just down the road makes one wonder why BHX can't support a flight? Perhaps with dwindling pax numbers LPL just offered a good deal?

MAN also have a Ryanair service to Oslo Torp. Overall, there are 13 weekly flights from MAN and 3 weekly flights from LPL.

Well if there's one airport that definitely need a boost then it's Liverpool.

Meanwhile, Bill Pearson is currently doing the rounds at Routes Americas in Denver, lets hope we get some positive developments out of it.

Re: Route Development & Airport Rumours

Interestingly DY offer onward connections at OSL and that would certainly offer an advantage.

Re: Route Development & Airport Rumours

At the end of the day though, BHX will be left with NO flights to Oslo, whether that be Torp, Rygge or Gardermoen.

It may not be that way for too long, keep the faith ;)

Exactly, just think how things were 12 months ago compared to now.

Re: Route Development & Airport Rumours

Hi there ray and everyone, I do hope that cezch airlines can agree terms with Birmingham and start flights to Prague, plus any other destinations that will bring in extra passengers, and hopefully more routes....andyc

Re: Route Development & Airport Rumours

Couple of new codeshares for the BHX departure boards:

Air Austral now codesharing on the midday AF for onward connections to Réunion.

Also JetBlue has applied for codeshare with Icelandair which will include KEF-BHX/GLA/MAN among others.

This will be good news if correct, i think loads on BMI have improved compared to 12 months ago and they are ending the route becouse they are quitting there base in Gothenburg rather than just axing the BHX route.

What aircraft woulkd this be on, one of those Saab aircraft ????/

Re: Route Development & Airport Rumours

SunAir currently use Dornier 328 Jets in a British Airways livery as they are a subsidiary. They also have a couple of Dornier 328 props and BAe JetStreams as well.
Correct me if I am wrong but we have seen SunAir at BHX before. It may have been the Billund route.

Re: Route Development & Airport Rumours

I've heard the same about Sun Air also, lets hope we hear something soon. If it does happen then I'll be very impressed that the route was replaced so quickly, when routes have been dropped in the past we've waited years before seeing a replacement and in the case of LIS, PRG, BUD, WAW, etc. we're still waiting. It'll also be nice to see the BA livery back at BHX.

They did operate Billund a couple of years ago, I'm useless with dates so can't remember when or how long for.

Re: Route Development & Airport Rumours

There should be an announcement soon, likely next month, everything is being kept hush hush at the moment but it's thought to be China Southern.

Re: Route Development & Airport Rumours

Fingers crossed, these charters could be a real boost if they plan on securing a link to China.

Re: Route Development & Airport Rumours

Oooooooooooooooooooooh thats good then and something to look forward to. I hope its China Southern as these should be the airline BHX is trying to get as the other two Hainan and Air China are more MAN focused at the minuite.

Id like to see the China Southern 777s at BHX this year.

Re: Route Development & Airport Rumours

I don't mind what aircraft is used, but it would be nice if a longer series of flights was to be introduced.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
