Id like to see the China Southern 777s at BHX this year.

Not one of their A380's? :D

I've tried to find out a little more about this announcement but have had no luck. There could be a very outside chance of some ANA charters to Tokyo as they were spoken to last year but my money is on China Southern, as said hopefully with a longer programme.

ANA and China Southern please, now that would be nice.

Re: Route Development & Airport Rumours

Enter Air are basing an aircraft at MAN and running a few Greek flights this summer. Some come to BHX.

ENT414 ZTH 1430 BHX 1550
ENT413 BXH 1635 ZTH 2155

Tuesdays

Re: Route Development & Airport Rumours

It's a Thursday flight for Monarch/Cosmos/Olympic and was originally down to be operated by a MAN based Small Planet aircraft. The Monday Corfu and Saturday Kefalonia are still showing as Small Planet but I guess that could change.

The Onur Air, TUI Fly, Nouvelair and Air Europa flights have been switched to Thomson aircraft, although Germania will be doing a Wed Ibiza flight with a Norwich based aircraft and some days an EMA based TOM aircraft will be flying from BHX. Air Malta will be back on Tuesdays, Evelop will be doing a Saturday morning Palma again and Correndon a Friday flight to Antalya.

Estonian Air will have a based E190 again and will be doing Salzburg on a Saturday and Denim Air have a Saturday F100 flight to Innsbruck. Flybe are also doing weekend flights to Innsbruck and Kefalonia.

This can and most likely will change again.

Re: Route Development & Airport Rumours

Just had an email from work that Sun Air will now start BHX-GOT after a corporate contract was signed on Friday.

Flights will start March 29th, and will be 1 daily ex Sat.

Re: Route Development & Airport Rumours

I notice Condor has now started codeshares on TCX BHX flights. Previously only did this at MAN.

Why do they do that on charter flights when its all part of Thomas Cook Group. Does that mean we could see Condor aircraft at BHX like you do at MAN ?????/

Re: Route Development & Airport Rumours

Im asuming it helps give visibility of the flights in GDS. At MAN the codeshares take place to get the German passengers to the long haul flights at MAN, using Lufthansa (when I went to Vegas last year from MAN on TCX there were lots of Lufthansa boarding cards and German accents). However, I cannot see many German pax having the appitite to fly Germany-BHX-Zante (which is one of the routes using the codeshare), not when it adds hours to the journey, flies in the wrong direction and they have an extensive selection of flights to holiday points anyway.

Im not aware of Condor operating any flights themseves from BHX, but, I suppose never say never.

Good spot there, it's definitely been recently added. A case of watch this space....

I'd heard a rumour a while ago that they might be on for a return so I've been looking every couple of weeks. I wouldn't hold your breath though they were supposed to start LGW last year, it was then put back to Jan and the last I heard it was now June.

Best warn anyone living under the flightpath!

I bet that farmer near Honiley will be so pleased :D

Ooooooh sounds interesting and looking at there route network, it does look quite impressive. I did not know it was so big.

Do they still fly the A310 ??????

They've been expanding quite alot in recent years. One notable absence re: BHX is Amritsar but apparently Bangkok was a popular connection for them last time so with that, CAN, PVG, PEK, KUL, DEL plus alot of Middle Eastern destinations I reckon there should be enough.

They do, along with A300's and A340-300's. LGW was announced as an A343 then it seemed to be an A310 so we'll see when/if it starts.

According to the Mahan fleet list they have 10 A310s and 20 A300s(600 series).
How many are actually active is another question. It also lists 3 A340s and 2 B747-400s and another 3 that are inactive.
Average age of the fleet is around 24 years. Some classic aircraft though,I wouldn't mind seeing them back at BHX.
Ray you just beat me to it!!

This is a picture of their refreshed J class cabin.

BHX seem to be playing it down, however they are talking to them.

Dear Mr - - - ,

Thank you for your email.

I have checked the Mahan website and cannot find a reference to Birmingham services? Whilst we are in discussions with Mahan Air about the resumption of services, there are many hurdles that need to be crossed before services can begin. The UK government and the Iranian government are in negotiations around these issues. We certainly hope that we can welcome them back to Birmingham at some point in the future.

Keep checking the Birmingham Airport website for new route announcements.

Best Regards

Good to see discussions are ongoing, hopefully if/when the governments sort those issues out we'll see them back.

Also I'm glad they are playing it down, after many rather embarrassing 'announcements' which never came to fruition I hope in the future they'll be waiting till everything is 100% confirmed.

Rumour

I've been hearing rumours that BHX might start seeing a dedicated freighter service. I can't get any information on which company or frequency just that it's from the Far East using a 777 and it's cargo would be car parts.

My first thought was JLR but they use DHL for their logistics, who are firmly based at EMA, and those Antonov's for the emergency parts. The only other one I can think of is MG but I'm not sure they're selling enough cars at the moment to warrant a dedicated 777 freighter?

Personally I'm not convinced but I wondered if CL44 had heard anything?

Re: Route Development & Airport Rumours

Hi Ray. Not as yet, but I will be keeping my ear to the ground to see what is being whispered.

It would be fantastic to see a dedicated service into BHX for this sort of movement (it has been a while since the engine contract in the 90's).

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
