Saudi Airlines should start Birmingham flights and they should get big loads.

Doubtful the Manchester services only operate with a huge subsidy from BAE Systems with a shed load of cargo and military contractors.

The pilgrim traffic is pretty low on the airlines priorities !

The one route that has really surprised me is Madrid with both Norwegian and Iberia seeing almost full planes, both ways, on Sunday.

Indeed, BHX - Madrid showed a 220% increase up from 3685 in Apr 15 to 11781 in Apr 16.
There is obviously a good demand for the route, which I can't believe has suddenly materialised in 2016. Those pax must have been using other departure points, so I can only assume that BHX is clawing back lost customers.

Agreed and we wont see anything from Delta (If we do) until at least summer 17 as they are cutting capacity on there US-UK for winter 16/17 due to BREXIT.

Due to Brexit or winter ??

No, not Brexit. That shall take upwards and possibly beyond a decade to evolve knowing how leisurely the world of Law work's.

I believe the Airline business looks at operations rather than politics and the intricacies of intra national, note...not international, practicalities.

Visa regulations change as frequently as the weather and sadly, as this day illustrates, terrorism spooks the travelling public on leisure services.

Airlines, if I am correct, judge market demand before political considerations whilst working within those intranational restrictions. I refer to the recent changes within India!

They have been a bit naughty and blamed it on Brexit (weaker pound actually helps US travellers), but it's just winter.

As an example, One of the routes they claim to have reduced was Manchester down to 5 weekly.

2 things with that, firstly, they actually went down to 5 weekly B767 at the back end of last winter, and, compared to the daily B757 they used for the most of last winter, the 5 weekly B767 means more capacity anyway!?

Might be down to pricing stimulating demand. Ignoring charter passengers, the drop at LHR, LGW and LCY is around 4300 passengers. BHX up 8000 passengers, BRS up 600 passengers, EDI up 2200 passengers, LPL up 100 passengers, MAN up 5700 passengers. LTN and STN not recorded yet. So roughly the regions is up 16000 with net effect on the reported UK-Madrid market up 11700 passengers.

Read on another forum that Thomson will be increasing their city break and long haul programme from the UK by 20% next summer with updates to come later this month.

Will the extra weekly PUJ be all BHX gets?

The extra capacity will be in the form of 3rd party flying on routes that will already be available or be made available as the schedules get announced

(In other words, existing flights such as Jet2, Easyjet, Ryanair, American Airlimes etc).

There will be no 'new' routes in the traditional sense.

And Long Haul ?? What is this increase made up of ?? American/United/Emirates etc etc ???

Thomson and First Choice customers will now be able to book new exciting city breaks and even more long haul holidays, thanks to the holiday company tying up with partner airlines.

From next month, New York, Vegas, Miami, Singapore, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, and Cape Town will be available to book for this winter.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
