Interesting ...when was the conference ?
Does he mean routes to operate 2017 or announcements pending to be made in 2017 for ops late 2017/2018?

I thought Rouge was a done deal?

Both airlines are not exactly going to attract the same PAX in my view.

Finnair and Delta were also supposedly "done deals" and they never materialised.

Agree that the services would be attracting different passengers and presumably AI to YYZ would be year round as opposed to Rouge operating at peak summer.

Hi there thunderchild, I agree with what you say about Finnair and Delta Airlines, we heard of some sort of a done deal that has never materialised, it just goes to show you, what type of deals that Birmingham airport is either willing or not willing to do, which then makes you wonder what measures kehoe allows his route development team to go to.. Andyc

Or it could be that, after the events of this year, one (possibly both) of those airlines had a rethink about their expansion and scaled back what was planned.

Definitely, this has happened with all possible TATL (and even more) flights from most UK airports. The 'almost confirmed' AC Rouge YVR-MAN seems to have dropped by the wayside and let's not forget the notorious DL to DTW.

I think AC may make an appearance in 2018 for BHX, when everything has settled. Definitely great news for Air India and Birmingham. They really add to the success stories of the regions!

The reality, as many of us know, until a route is announced formally by the airline and airports, there is no such thing as 'in the bag' ...and even then, as we know, until the first flights land, there is always a risk....

alas, this Air India rumour is just that, a rumour! One that I think has legs and one that has been reported throughout the media, but alas, until BHX and Air India announce this, then its just a rumour!

to mirror ethanegcc's comments however, if true, its a real coup for bhx and the wider health of regional airports in the uk!

Didn't the Rouge rumour first materialise way after Brexit? If so surely the US elections would not halt UK canada growth ?.. maybe still time for this to be announced.. .

Great news regarding Air India let's hope it happens

Air Canada and Rouge still haven't finalised schedules.

As the route is likely to start in June, there is still up to the end of Jan to mid Feb for a decent lead in time to be given.

That's what I was thinking/ hoping.

Finnair and Delta I'm sure too have not wiped BHX off the radar still time for them and if not I'd expect them possibly fir late 2017 or 2018.

Sorry guys I know it's swaying off topic need to move this to route development thread!!

Totally agree. I think we've always said that rumours are just that until official conformation appears.

Some rumours turn out to be true, some turn out to be false. Some are based on what is planned but things can and do change.

I still think that there may be one or two things yet to come for next year :)

So are both BHX-YYZ and MAN-YVR still possible/on the radar User?

I know they have already increased YYZ-MAN so if those came off it would make Rouge's operation very impressive in the UK:

GLA-YYZ
EDI-YYZ
LGW-YYZ
LGW-YVR
BHX-YYZ
MAN-YYZ
MAN-YVR

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
