I was in my garden just under an hour ago and saw a TUI B757 on approach to BRS 27. I live about a mile to the north of seven-mile finals for 27.
It'll be interesting to see if it end's up operating possibly a few flights from cwl as it was reported elsewhere that the seat map for someone's flight to Cyprus in September was for a 757.

TUI should have had three flights from BRS tomorrow - Ibiza, Gran Canaria and Lanzarote - but all have been cancelled.

Until Severn posted earlier today I wasn't aware there would be a B757 at BRS for what's left of this summer season and that BRS had already seen the last of the type that has served the airport for TUI and predecessors for so long. I thought the original plan pre-COVID was six 738s and a 787 to be based for the entire summer.

I know that in the past TUI (and Thomas Cook) has operated w-diagrams to other UK airports using BRS-based aircraft but Larnaca seems a long way for that to work, so it might mean a short positioning flight across the estuary if the BRS-based 757 is to be used to LCA from CWL.

Would one crew have enough hours to operate BRS-CWL(P)-LCA-CWL-BRS(P)?

Fri 31st July 2020

TUI B738 (G-TAWD) operated to CFU this morning at 06:00. It will then position empty back to CWL to become its based aircraft leaving BRS with the following based:

B738 - (G-FDZT/TAWC)
B752 - (G-OOBB)
B788 - (GTUIE) - Has been stored at BRS since 28th March 2020

Saturday 1 August 2020

TUI operated its Palma flight today according to the BRS website departures page and FR24. I thought that TUI had suspended its flights to Spanish territories.

The flight operated last week so the outbound would have been empty, the inbound bringing home those already in Mallorca, confirmed by FR24 showing that the entire outbound was flown at 41,000 feet.

TUI B738 (G-FDZU) operated from LGW to KGS on the afternoon of Sunday (9th). It then operates back to BRS arriving early Monday morning. This will then be based making the operational base 3x B738s and 1x B752 (along with a stored B788):

B738 (3) - (G-FDZT/FDZU/TAWC)
B752 (1) - (G-OOBB)
B788 (1) - (GTUIE) - Has been stored at BRS since 28th March 2020

Monday requires all four operational aircraft to operate the schedule, with departures to:
LPA - 06:00-15:15 (B752)
ZTH - 06:30-14:35 (B738)
CFU - 13:30-21:00 (B738)
AYT - 13:40-23:40 (B738)

Will LPA be going ahead? Looks like TUI have postponed all Spanish islands flights by at least a week (now showing w/b 17/08) which is, of course, understandable.

The TUI flight to Gran Canaria is showing cancelled on the dep boards today. monday 10th august.
Yes, the LPA was on the boards yesterday, but today is showing as cancelled. All 3x B738s were used today and the B752 will be sat around, no longer needed for the LPA.

However, looking to next Monday (17th), it will require 4x aircraft, as the LPA should be up and running again.

Any one any idea if the b788 will be used from BRS or used from another airport,or it will stay there stored. With no long haul running yet i would think they would have spare dreamliners stored else where as well.

Have a look at this thread- the posts from members Severn and ROC10 on the latest page of the thread.

There’s significant changes to next summers programme. Sharm has gone and reductions in Antalya , Gran Canaria , Lanzarote , kos , Rhodes , bourgas , Tenerife , Mahon , pula and Naples to start with. May be more on there that I haven’t noticed yet. It goes along with recent reductions that I have mentioned before

No surprise in one sense given the current huge uncertainty as to the state of pandemic next year. On the other hand it was reported only last week that TUI was reporting a 145% rise in bookings for summer 2021.

If things do improve significantly virus-wise going into next year I would anticipate some of the flights being put back into the system.

It means a loss of one short haul based aircraft but still one more than summer 2019. It doesn’t appear that the 787 is based daily nor is it scheduled on any short haul routes . Apart from ssh not other routes are lost

It seems that this is a general cutting back by TUI next summer and not BRS-specific.

I make that 73 departures, including the four to Cancun and Sanford ( 2 x weekly to both). I don't know what summer 2020 should have been or what the original summer 2021 was supposed to be.

Thursdays look very light and the first group of flights on Friday mornings requires seven aircraft for short-haul routes. It might be that the Thursday B787 to Cancun will be back in time to operate one of them (there is no Cancun or Sanford on Fridays). Saturdays require six short-haul aircraft for the first batch of flights - the 787 is off to Sanford that morning so can't help. Apart from that it seems that the schedule can cope with five short-haul aircraft which I think is one less than originally planned. Furthermore the 787 was going to operate short-haul on those days it wasn't required for the transatlantic routes.

I doubt that the above will be the final programme. If the pandemic doesn't let up next year there might be more reductions or, conversely, more flights added if prospects begin to look brighter in the coming months.

Interesting plan isn’t it. I had kind of worked something out in my head re the schedule but hadn’t noticed only 4 needed on thurs. I wonder what 2 morning and 2 pm have been dropped from the original schedule. The gap on Friday pm is filled with bourgas rather than sat so I can only guess that one of sat am will be dropped to leave 5 used short haul aircraft .Same applies to Friday am too.

is Bristol one of the worst affected ? Looking at Bhx and cwl we certainly look it.
