Ryanair W15/16

Dont think the full schedule is out and still showing x 3 based but increases on some routes and not many gaps.

Also not much difference in Canary islands capacity so plenty for Norweigan to have a go at.

Good to see some increases though and you never know, we may even get that x4th based aircraft, well just maybe.

I'm surprised that with such a comparatively small FR base we still have four Polish routes (Gdansk, Krakow, Bydgoszcz and Katowice).

If RYR introduce any new routes this year, where do people think will they go?
There are loads of potential gold mines around Europe for RYR as shown by their insanely large DUB and STN bases :)

I've just commented on the Norwegian thread that the next 12-18 months should give us a clear idea of where BHX is in their thoughts and whether they're happy to let Norwegian take over or whether we'll see some retaliation.

If they do expand I'd like to see:

Porto - It appeared in the drop down menu once.
Lisbon
Pisa
Budapest
Warsaw
Prague
Riga
Valencia
Possibly a Scandinavian route or two.
Maybe Rome to give Monarch some competition.
And a couple of Greek routes for the summer.

Let the battle commence

BIRMINGHAM TO DUBLIN SERVICE EXTENDS TO 6 TIMES DAILY FOR WINTER 2015

Ryanair, Europe’s favourite airline, today (21 May) announced it will increase flights on its Birmingham to Dublin service from 4 to 6 times daily, due to overwhelming demand, offering UK business customers even more low fares to Dublin.

UK business customers can enjoy allocated seating, a free second carry-on bag, reduced fees, an improved website and app with mobile boarding passes, while also availing of our Family Extra and Business Plus services, making Ryanair the ideal choice for business travellers.

To celebrate these extra business flights from Birmingham to Dublin Ryanair has launched a seat sale with fares on these routes starting from just £9.99 for travel in October and November, which are available for booking on the Ryanair.com website today.

Ryanair’s Head of Communications Robin Kiely said:

“Ryanair is pleased to announce extra flights from Birmingham to Dublin, offering customers the largest range of business routes at the lowest fares and convenient business timings.

UK customers and visitors already choose Ryanair for our low fares, industry leading customer service and great route choice. Now they can also book their winter flights even earlier on our improved website and mobile app, carry a free small 2nd carry-on bag, enjoy allocated seats, avail of our Family Extra and Business Plus services, and use their personal electronic devices at all stages of their flight, as Ryanair continues to deliver so much more than just the lowest fares.

Ryanair’s Customer Charter promises the lowest fares and largest selection of seats, and this route to Dublin can be booked today on the Ryanair.com website with fares starting from just £9.99.”

I think it will too, but for how long?

It's going to be an interesting winter for UK-DUB with new EI services to EMA, DSA and LBA, LPL up to 4x daily FR and 2x daily EI and BHX/MAN both seeing 6x daily EI and 6x daily FR. That's alot of extra seats to fill.

Norwegian start flying to Barcelona and Malaga, Ryanair increase their flights to both of these destinations.
Aer Lingus announce an increase in daily flights from BHX-DUB, Ryanair announce an increase on the same day.
Notice a trend? Further evidence that Ryanair MAY finally be taking BHX seriously.
Watch this space!

Ryanair is Europe's favourite airline?? Honestly, that is dishonest.
They've done comparatively little for BHX and only stirred when competition arrives.
I would love to see WMI start but since we already have 4 Polish routes (Gdansk, Kraków, Bydgoszcz and Katowice) maybe BUD restarting would be better.

RYR actually only flies to Prague from Dublin and Stansted, which are its two biggest bases.
Has Paul K given up on getting it as a destination? The only other options I can think of are Jet2 who don't do BHX at all and Easyjet who have shown no interest in expanding
Porto or Lisbon is an essential, we need more Portuguese flights.
Budapest is also a must but the issue with these destinations is that a lot of them are also served by EMA.

If BHX can't get Easyjet then they need to get Wizz to cover the Eastern European destinations.

There is currently 'strong competition from Bristol' for an Eastern European airline, I really hope it's Wizz and a deal can be done.

I wouldn't rule out a return to BHX by CSA Czech Airlines. They were doing okay but I think we were unlucky with the turn of events that happened there.
As far as RYR and Wizz are concerned is that the aircraft are 180 seaters, which means frequency will be low to start off with.I don't think that would be helpful.
As for BUD,I would't trust RYR with any new routes, for one they only seem to be interested in MAG bases.Secondly RYR did BUD for one season(or was it 12months?),then dropped it,which is common for that airline at BHX.
Dublin will always do well from BHX as not only is it a popular short break destination, but there is a very high Irish population in Brum, and has been for many years.
however the constant upping and downing of frequency on the route must be very frustrating for regular travelers and airport bosses alike. However low fares will continue to make it the most popular route from BHX for a while yet.

Palma de Mallorca which was listed as a seasonal destination has now been moved to year-round. :)

Interesting article - Ryanair are in talks to fly to Paris Charles De Gaulle, where they previously said they would never fly.

Paris-UK has always been a strong market. London not so much anymore due to the Eurostar, but still in demand. And I seriously think CDG-BHX could be a route Ryanair would be interested. It's an important and popular route and they'd be competing with 1 airline only (if you count Air France and Flybe as one venture as they code share on the route).

Pure speculation, but I'll keep my fingers crossed...

I'm sure those heading to Disneyland Paris as well a those on city breaks would make good use of a Ryanair service. It'll be interesting to see what happens.

My family are looking at a possible trip to Malta. If we go it will probably be next year and certainly on Ryanair, so any information on flight prices and schedules would be welcomed...
There should be 8 of us (yes, 8!) so RYR was our only option really

It depends on when you are going.

This year Malta is on Thursdays and Sundays leaving BHX at 18:50 on both days. After October it switched to Monday and Friday for the winter, the flights also change to a morning departure.

Nothing is bookable for next summer yet but for the cheapest fares it's best to book as soon as possible as they only go up. Keep an eye out for when flights are released and get in as quick as you are able too.

Looking at RYR fees to Malta to see how they generally pan out, and July and August are sky-high, September is also high, but June is more erratic with some flights at rock-bottom prices and others expensive. I presume that the prices will follow a similar pattern next year. Also good to see quite a few flights labelled "seats selling fast"...

Generally when the flights go on sale the first block of seats are usually the bargain basement prices and need to be snapped up quickly. As the plane fills up demand gets higher and so do the prices, so expensive tickets can be a sign that the flight is selling well

Have you had a look at flight only from the likes of Thomson? There is also Air Malta which usually do 2x weekly throughout the summer?

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
