It seems that LPL are losing out there, but you can't blame them - MAN is the bigger airport, bigger passenger base and more ammenities all making it more attractive to passengers. They say it wont affect LPL, with the new MAN routes, but like you said, there are a large number of Mancunians that fly from LPL, time will tell!

I think that FR have a huge presence at LPL and I think they are gradually pushing away at EZY! They are opening identical routes, and recieving the loads to back to majority of them. Maybe EZY are testing the market at MAN to see whether it will affect the loads at LPL and then make a decision as to whether to continue operating identical routes from both LPL and MAN. I think that EZY will never probably leave LPL, but It looks like FR are more LPL and EZY more MAN.....?!

I know Id be blasted down by every Liverpudlian, as well as many on the forums in General, but, I would not be surprised if Easyjet either closed Liverpool, or at least moved 5 aircraft over to MAN.

Look at it this way:

-as you say, MAN is growing, and it is growing in the same way LGW is growing for easyjet. Will LPL be viable if MAN has 20+ aircraft, with eventually higher frequency, better routes and the better facilities? Easyjet has been at LPL since 1997, and now has 10 aircraft. MAN has been open since 2007(?) and is already up to 6 aircraft. So, MAN has grown quicker.

-The route structures are beggining to merge. At first, MAN's routes were always different to LPL, with the likes of Marrakesh, Tenerife etc. ALC/AGP were the same, but that was down to the inherited routes from GB airways, not the easyjet decisions. Now, BFS/GVA/SXF/MAD/AMS/AGP/PMI/ALC and so on. GIB was opened at LPL, but, Im told that it was due to be a MAN route, but was only opened at LPL due to lack of MAN based units.

-LPL routes seem to be running out of steam. At first, there was a gentlemens agreement that LPL would grow at the same rate as MAN (now out of the window with a new manager-ess), and, as there were no routes easyjet wanted to operate out of LPL, they based an aircraft at Doncaster until there was a suitable time to operate a new route/increased frequencies.

Time will tell, but I dont hold much hope for easyjet at LPL. As you say, Ryanair are trying their best to squeeze easyjet (not that sucessful now, but given time). If easyjet get fed up, its so easy for them to up sticks and move down the road. Its not like they would be abandoning a huge pax base, as, that pax base is still reachable from MAN. Bmi baby has just been seen off at MAN, and that leaves more room for easyjet.

Ryanair should be interesting to watch too. The new deal with MAN means its cheaper by volume for Ryanair, and RYR themselves know some routes are better suited to MAN (Bremen is the perfect example, moved to LPL after the 2009 pull out, and was sucessful at MAN, but was dire at LPL so was dropped). I see MAN being the force to be reckoned with from 2012, its going to be a very interesting year if my sources are correct.

yepp all agree WorldRep.
I wouldn't be surprised if RYR still keep some routes at MAN, but once they have secured LPL they will then focus on MAN, thye're basically trying to gun down EZY in the Northwest.
As you also said EZY ave taken up much of the space in Terminal 3 at MAN that BmiBaby has left behind, and with RYR moving to Terminal 2, where there are no (really) low cost carriers, they will see it, as there own terminal for their low cost operations.

The next few years are going are going to determine whether EZY will put full effort into LPL, as you said they're growing at MAN, like there's no-tomorrow and are leaving LPL behind. Once EZY start to shut down one of two routes at LPL, RYR will be the ultimate force to then have the 'monolpoly' at LPL.

Well, this is just it. RYR has opened up MAN, said they will base aircraft and now Easyjet have expanded into the routes they have at LPL, as if they are trying to protect the north-west market share to those cities.
I think MAN is going to be a big battleground soon.......

Indeed, it seems it will be. FR are ruthless and if they don’t get their way, they have been known to take action - but that unpredictability is something I think the British are un-nervy about.
Obviously they won't just shut down a base - but with MAN in the middle of LPL and LBA - It seems that they are 'using these airports as insurance' if all else fails.

Does anyone know what the current easyJet fleet list is at LPL. Reading back on the topic, there has been no mention of anything else after the 9th aircraft being based at LPL so am I right in thinking it's:
2 A320's and 7 A319's?

Any help would be appreciated.
Regards,
Tom.

Another easyJet issue to report, does anyone know the reason why EZY7259 from Liverpool to Bodrum suddenly diverted to Luton when it had just reached the other-side of the channel and was approaching the Belgian coast?
I'm obviously suspecting it's a technical problem, but does anyone know the exact reason why G-EZTH diverted into, what I believe to be London Luton?

xboy999 it is in fact an Airbus A319 which always operates into Gibraltar. They did operate an A320 through the period when they purchased GB Airways, but it is now an A319. Monarch used Boeing 757's but now use A320's.

To be announced tomorrow, LPL-NQY 3xweekly. Another unknown route is supposed to be announced too, it has been speculated that it may be SEN. Will be interesting to see what is announced tomorrow.

The other easyjet route will be to Nantes 2xweekly.

I see Easyjet have signed a "long term" deal with handling provider Servisair at Liverpool to provide full handling services for the airline.

Looking at peak August 2018, it looks like 8 easyjet based aircraft. Increases on Isle of Man and Venice routes but some routes not showing as yet, but looks a busy year ahead.

Next summer seems to show a welcome capacity boost from EZY with them bringing in more A32Os rather than A319s.

Good news. easyJet seem to be going over to the 320 and 321 neos and I believe the 319s will gradually leave the fleet.

Easyjet have just said launching a number of new routes from Liverpool, they will be announced November and December. As reported in Liverpool Echo.

That's great news for LPL. Wonder what destinations they'll introduce?

I don't know maybe some of routes moved to Manchester will return, Gibraltar was one that was very busy from Liverpool but was moved that I know of. What I don't want to see is duplication of Blue Air's services which are doing nicely. They are reporting an extra 350,000 seats on a base of 5 million passengers now.

Do they operate to Sweden or Greece from LPL? Thinking they might look at Stockhom and Athens like they have at BRS.

Hi, I was born and lived in B36 for a long time - Lindale Avenue, just around the corner from Hodge Hill Comp.
I just noticed your postcode on a post.

Do you still live in the area?

49 trips undertaken last year. First done this year which was to North Wales where surprisingly the only slippery surfaces were in Conwy with the castle and it's walls closed due to the ice.
