Is this really that big news, it appears to be ? It reminds me when I used to work at Lunn Poly in the 90s, when the new summer brochures used to go on sale. We would open at 7am with a queue of people outside, awwwwwwww how I miss the good old days.
Crikey that's bought back memories! I'd forgotten they existed 😂

I think it's a case of wanting to see the airports do well and expand with new routes and increase capacity. It is for me anyway. I'd like for BHX to be able to expand and show the potential it has even though its in dire need of renovations (but that's not the thread for this). It's exciting to see where the routes teams are planning and what's been given out. I just hope it gets a bit more than the good bucket and spade holidays 🤞

And the days when (I started work with Exchange Travel in Manchester back in 1968) TUI was made up of Luxitours, Gaytours and Thomsons??? Summer reservations did start until New Year's day - no booking a year in advance etc. Salary £450pa.

Hiya guys

Now we’ve been waiting since the 27th October for the ACL report to come out
It was meant to apparently come out the week commencing the 30th October
Then it was I heard this week but nothing has happened.surely it’s gotta be next Monday surely

to be honest the ACL report is not a big deal, most of us have a good idea what to expect, if your waiting for lots of new airlines, and new routes, you are going to be dissappointed. Any new airlines would normally have announced the flights by now. I'm sure the slot requests will show the likes of Emirates x2 daily A380s, Qatar x2 daily A350, again these are just requests, no guarantee the flights will happen or the aircraft type will be downgraded, I can only see the likes of Ryanair and maybe Easyjet that might have scope to expanded next summer? Yes it would be nice to see a few surprises, Air India to Mumbai fro example, but don't count on it, but a surprise or two would be nice!!

Get Away!

The ACL reports are interesting and show where intent may lie in the future but as we know all to well, there are things on there that will never happen and stuff not on there that will.

It's fun to look at though :)

I would have said I would be happy with Pegasus SAW, and the Qatar upgraded to a 789 in the ACL.

Now Pegasus already confirmed Qatar 789 would be good enough for me.

So we all know what the ACL report will look like when it’s announced

So we know
Easy jet will be on it including there 15 holiday destinations
Jet2 and its expansion to Morocco
Air China cargo is very possible if still goes ahead
Spicejet very likely to be on it

What I would like to see is expansion from :
  • Wizz air:More increase on its Bucharest and krakow routes and possibly 3 more routes included:Tirana,Dortmund and Lublin.
  • Ryanair to increase its routes load:Bringing back Chania ,Look at a route in turkey or Cyprus,Look at options more Scandinavian direction.
  • Eurowings to contest with Lufthansa.Maybe operate more routes from Germany for example:Hamburg,Berlin and stuggart
  • Tui to add more long/short haul routes:La palma,Seasonal New York and Toronto also varadero.
  • Aer lingus to bother operating more flights from cork and Shannon
  • Air India possibly return it’s favour in Mumbai with at least 2 weekly
  • Saudia Flights to increase to 5 weekly or at least increase by a day
  • Qatar to bring back its 10 weekly flights operating a B77L
  • Emirates to keep its current capacity of 1x A380 daily and 1x B77W daily
  • Loganair:Increase its IOM capacity rate to 9 weekly,Also potentially start looking at Dundee or Glasgow

How can Wizz fly to Dortmund ?
Ryanair dont fly to Turkey at all
Eurowings are owned by Lufthansa - I agree HAM, TXL & STR - I would love a EWG BHX base
Tui have never flown to NY or Toronto from anywhere
Aer Lingus - agreed SNN and ORK to give RYR some competition
Air India - agree Mumbai must happen
Saudi flights are rammed so extra flights would be great
Qatar 90% LF so B789 daily to start would be good
Emirates agreed as loads currently dont warrant 2 x A388 they may come S24
Logainair keep what we have got would be good as they are dropping INV

So really Ian ive done a good a job at guessing

On the point of Toronto - I think it is one that BHX should be able to get back and retain - Air Canada and Air Transat both have orders for the A321XLR (the former in rather decent numbers) - also dont forget WestJet who do seem to on-and-off fly 737 MAX transatlantic out of Toronto

So you think virtually nothing already not announced on it, that would be a terrible let down.Apart from possibly Spicejet which I think have appeared before, and Air China .

TUI have already got their summer 2024 timetable in place, don't expect any new destinations now & they have no spare capacity at all fo their 787s on long haul.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
