RAF Elmdon must have a push back tow bar for C17 with 1 parked nose in on the 80’s stands

I'm pretty sure the C17 has the ability to reverse itself as a mission requirement although no doubt a tow bar would be used at BHX watching one trying to do it at BHX would be fun especially seeing the faces of some onlookers at the site of an aircraft moving itself backwards.

Has it got deployable wing mirrors lol.

The BHX website shows sixty-four departures today best for a while.

Amongst them are Ryanair (18 ) and EasyJet (8) showing their increasing importance to BHX . Jet2 (11) and TUI (7)).
Other interesting movements Hi Fly from Islamabad to MAN red list job presumably and a Wamos flight due in tonight from Athens.

The airport showing sixty departures today so the last three days are 58,64 and 60 Sat-Mon respectively.

Tui(5), Jet2, (12) with Ryanair showing eight bucket and spade flights along with four other flights, Gibraltar with Eastern so twenty-six in total I make it for the bucket and spade brigade.

RAF Elmdon was in full flow yebsterday with five RAF/Air Tanker A332 four of which were night stoppers plus a C17 in from Beirut and out to Brize Norton. They must have a real problem at Brize.

Today a TUI 788 positioning in from Hanoi.

All info credited to the bhxmovements blog.

I read elsewhere, that it is due to poor quality re-surfacing of the runway. In the recent hot weather, the surface started to melt. I can only assume that emergency repairs are underway and full length of the runway is unavailable.

A quick look on the BHX departures board shows Jet2 (16)Ryanair (10) TUI(7) including Montego Bay and Eastern to Gibraltar so thirty-four total bucket and spade trips today.

With the government hinting to put Spain and Greece on amber watch looking like this level of traffic is as good as its going to get until next summer.

Got a feeling my trip with the wife to Gran Canaria in September is looking dodgy I'm tempted to move it again.

Bars still closing at midnight rollo, which may be ok for most people however I don't really want those restrictions whilst on my holiday. I might wan't a few cheeky cocktails after the witching hour, lol

And turn into a pumpkin :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

To be honest mate midnight is nearly closer to getting up time than bedtime at my age I'm usually out walking around the Marina and along the beach at sunrise for an hour or more then a full English on the balcony then repete at sunset except this time it's a nice meal around the Marina, a couple of bevvies and jobs done.

Was down there earlier today from noon till about three; counted about three serious spotters. Quieter than last week, aircraft wise. As usual at BHX, couldn't make up mind which runway to use. Variable wind really confuses them, lol!

Re comments about Brize, hope the fence was fixed too; where AN225 blew it down a few weeks ago. Used to work for a military contractor so know about poor standard of RAF airfields, either Government neglect or construction companies submitting tenders that weren't fit for purpose. One forgot the runway friction coating :jawdrop::eggonface:

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
