Wamos flights from Kabul

Sky News has just announced that these flights were bringing former military interpreters and their families to the UK, for a better life.

The reporter said "we cannot reveal which Midlands airport this is". My curiosity together with the news reports over the past few days explained the flights. Two plus two does equal four!!

I saw that report too. Any idea why the flight stops in Dubai enroute to BHX but has been going non stop to Kabul?

Some of the flights have arrived via Athens for whatever reason. There is another flight due in tonight this time via Dubai its been pretty obvious for a while they are bringing in Afghanistan interpreters and the families for a while.

Cost/availability of fuel. Empty aircraft outbound, so no need for stop.

Also may be something to do with Covid lists. Until recently you couldn't travel to UK direct from Dubai, so passengers were transiting through airports/countries that had lesser restrictions.

Sometimes they do hide the destination if there’s deemed to be a security risk. Due to its controversial nature, TUI recently operated a deportation flight from BHX that listed ‘Gatwick’ as its destination. It was never going anywhere near Gatwick.

Four arrivals due today from Dubai DWC. Our scheduled Emirates, two Wamos and Titan. Must be a first for BHX, although some of it down to the sad situation in Afghanistan.

On the BHX website I use, a Wamos flight is still listed as a night stop but no from/to showing.

I agree, it's probably better to avoid speculation/comment due to politics involved.

Smart lynx A321 9H-SLG was also on the Wizz flight from Iasi - apparently Wizz are leasing due to crew shortages.

Fuel makes sense (y)
The latest NOTAM says aircraft must tanker fuel to land/depart.

Now on FR24 so openly in the public domain.

PLM 361now on the ground at BHX 0108hrs.
PLM 370 arrived earlier at 1944hrs.

Moving on todays departure board shows fifty-seven flight departures which seems to be around the what is now the regular level.

Except, of course the airport was “in the Midlands” and various bits of the images were scrubbed. We may have been able to recognise the airport, but a lot of people may not have readily identified its location. Let this group not be guilty of causing an event of which none of us would wish to have an association.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
