From memory both G-OBYF & BYK have had rather a liturgy of problems this year.

From memory both G-OBYF & BYK have had rather a liturgy of problems this year.

Considering both aircraft have had a relatively light work schedule over the past few years compared to in the past these issues do arise. It’ll be one thing after another. Has on issue arises it’s fixed, but could cause another issue to flag up.

We don’t know why it returned. I’m reading flames from engines, could it be a bird strike? It doesn’t seem like it. Engine surge possibly!

I believe the 763 involved has now gone to St Athan to retire (not confirmed)! Anyone more info?
don't know where you got that information from, but G-OBYK is currently on route back to Manchester from Heraklion, so aircraft must be fully serviceable again

TUI DETAILS DONCASTER SHEFFIELD CONTINGENCY PLAN

Tui will pump additional capacity for summer 2023 into several airports neighbouring Doncaster Sheffield airport (DSA) to support customers due to fly from DSA next year.

It was confirmed on Monday (26 September) that operations at DSA would begin to be wound down at the end of October following a strategic review, with DSA owner Peel Group stating the airport was no longer financially viable.

Tui managing director UK and Ireland Andrew Flintham branded the decision was "incredibly disappointing". He confirmed Tui’s last flight from DSA would be on 4 November, and that Tui staff at DSA would be offered alternative roles.

In response to the closure, additional weekly flights will be available from Leeds Bradford, East Midlands and Manchester airports next summer to a range of the group’s most popular destinations. These include services to the mainland Spain, the Balearics and the Canaries, Greece, Turkey, Cyprus and Egypt.

Tui will also launch two new routes from East Midlands to Antalya and Hurghada and three new routes from Leeds Bradford to Dalaman, Antalya and Dubrovnik.

In total, the three airports will offer flights to 54 destinations across 17 countries next summer. This includes 67 flights a week to Greece offering more than 600,000 seats and 34 flights a week to Turkey providing more than 300,000 seats.

Tui will operate both new routes at East Midlands airport twice-a-week, with Antalya flights on Wednesdays and Saturdays and Hurghada flights on Tuesdays and Fridays.

It will also operate two of the three new routes at Leeds Bradford twice-a-week, with both its Dalaman and Antalya flights operating on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The new Dubrovnik flights from Leeds Bradford will be on Thursdays, timed to allow customers to connect with Marella Cruises itineraries.

Elsewhere, Tui is upping capacity to several other destinations next summer. It will put on 175,000 seats to Cyprus, 10 flights a week to Egypt, 60,000 seats to Cape Verde and 18 flights a week to support it Marella Cruises programmes in Dubrovnik, Palma, Corfu and the US.

Richard Sofer, Tui UK and Ireland commercial and business development director, said: "With the unfortunate closure of Doncaster Sheffield airport, we know these customers will still want access to a great variety of holiday destinations, so it’s exciting to be able to offer this from other surrounding airports.

"Not only does this reconfirm our commitment to customers in the region, but it also shows our support for regional airports and the value they bring to the UK."

For Winter 2023, TUI will once again operate charter flights from Manchester to:
Colombo (7th Dec)
Singapore (Thursdays)
Muscat (30th Nov)
to meet Marella cruise ships in those cities. Langkawi was previously served but will now be accessed via Singapore.

I'll post a full review of the holiday when I get back but so far Day 1 has been great. Flight was on time, crew were lovely and the rep was really good. The city tour I did today was really great especially Flyover Iceland. No Northern Lights tonight though because of the weather though that's probably a blessing in disguise because it's been a long day! Tomorrow off on a Golden circle tour then fingers crossed for Northern Lights. So far really enjoying holidaying with TUI.

Has anybody else noticed that FR24 seems to fail to capture about 15-20% of TUI flight numbers?
My log for Monday showed 8 flights and for yesterday there were 10 flight numbers "blank".
I'm just being curious!

is that inbound flights? (arrivals) - if so its because the inbound flights are empty, ie ferry flights so the flight number usually has an "F" on it, so FR24 does not recognise it! - as the summer charter season is now a week old, inbound flights should now show, as they will have passengers on. 👍

As you say, some are 'Ferry' and others 'Positioning' flights, although there are odd ones with 'correct' numbers.
Thanks for your input and thoughts.

Flight Radar is showing the TUI flight to Montego Bay got airborne this morning at 1151, just wondering was it full? I'm only asking because TUI emailed me on Friday afternoon informing me the flight was cancelled !

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?

I don't believe I am quite covering enough roles at work. Its now 4 on a bad day, 5 on a good day and there is scope for a 6th and 7th role. Still on minimum pay but had the biggest payrise in the company,
