Caramelized onion sausage rolls - local farm pork butchery - with, despite the seasonal weather, a nice green salad plus beetroot, and accompanied by a nicely chilled bottle of Prosecco courtesy of Lidl.

Very nice indeed.

Ps - sorry no photos as already eaten unlike Aviador who thinks ahead of the game!!

It’s definitely one of those recipes you can easily change the ingredients to suit your own personal tastes.

We use Yorkshire Henderson's Sause instead of Worcestershire Sauce to keep it Gluten Free for me. Tastes just the same almost.

Interesting, I would quite happily have them but both my mom and the mother-in-law are totally against it as they should only be served with beef in there eyes. If I end up doing the dinner this year I’m going for it!

When Mrs F and I first met I couldn't understand how when we had Sunday lunch at her parents house they had their Yorkshire Puddings with gravy as a starter.

This is the recipe for the chicken shawarma. I did it a few weeks ago with some chargrilled vegetables, flatbreads and a spiced yoghurt dip and we enjoyed it.

My Dad would occasionally have Yorkshire pudding with jam on for, well, pudding. That's if there were any left over. He always said it was a Yorkshire thing, but I'm not sure. Some time back, I started to look up our family name 'Farnell' and found it was thought to originate from Yorkshire. If so, it must be at least my Great Grandad or possibly further back.

Originally, I think it was a cheap filler. But I find it absolutely delicious when covered in rich gravy. When I was in my teens, my Mom would make me a Yorkshire pudding the size of my dinner plate. My dinner was placed inside and the whole lot covered in gravy (proper gravy, not gravy granules stuff).

Thank you Kevin, filler makes sense. To be clear to everyone, I do not eat meat of mammals and gravy is a non starter as are sauces I cannot tolerate my food being drowned in liquid as I prefer the natural taste of the vegetables and fish or chicken. Too dry I hear? Not with a glass of water or wine nearby!

I'm exactly the same. I don't like gravy and never have sauces as a complement. Like you I prefer the original food taste. When I see one of my adult grandsons drowning his chips in ketchup I ask whether it would not save time and money to forget the chips and just consume the ketchup.

He could try first cooking the chips in the ketchup before frying, this sealing the tomato into the potato and less mess on the plate or bag.

Like you, I'm not really into desserts (although I did used to love my Mom's Treacle pudding and Custard, Rice Pudding or Apple Pie and Custard). If eating out, I'd usually go for a starer, main and then straight onto the cheese.

Unlike Jennyjet and TLY, I couldn't get through a roast dinner without gravy, it would just be so dry I don't think I would be able to swallow it. To me, gravy takes the flavours to the next level. I'm currently pondering what their soups must be like 🤔
