It looks a lot taller in the pictures than in real life! Decent circulatory area, if the piers as well as the jetbridges are glass walled they will do the job for me.

As I'm still working on my mobile I'll give another quote from OAN 75/2017....

* Excavation of grass areas and laying of new concrete pavement
* Installation of new deep drainage and interceptor tanks
* Installation of electrical pit and duct lines
* Installation of aviation fuel hydrant mains
* Installation of aeronautical ground lighting (AGL)
* Removal of existing head of stand services
* Removal and application of surface markings

Finally found the OAN and it Looks like it's prepping the areas around the pier. The way it's worded, it makes it sound like they were starting construction on the new far remote stands near the M56, and thus it took me by surprise that this would be done so early.

I've stood down now haha.

I'll have a fuller read of the OAN tomorrow User, however my initial thoughts is that this relates to the southeast side of the new Pier as it makes specific reference to current stands and taxiway NA.

The work mentioned in the OAN goes on until December 2018. So based on previous comments should cover all the Apron around the new pier including the new remotes.

Interesting comment Comet.

I still think it's this year as, when you look at the validity of type OAN, in the header it shows an expiry date of 22/12/17. Also 22nd December 2018 is a Thursday and it refers to Friday, so that ties in with 2017.

Time will tell!!

At the beginning of paragraph 2.1 it does say the work is from 29 October 2017 until 22 December 2018

Crossed posts.
I still think despite the validity date ending 2017 which I think is wrong, the scope of the work is such that there is no possibility of it being completed in 2017

"Progress update on the new Pier/Terminal... coming along well. This will be the first part to open as 'Satellite Terminal' during WIP."

Well that answers one question I had.
I couldn't see how this pier could open until the T2 extension was well advanced and the connection could be made. It seems it won't and it will be stand alone for a while.

I assume the temporary walkway will be extended to the new building to get passengers through the building site of the T2 main building... when this satellite opens, the temporary waiting/boarding gate area will be closed.

As I visited Quarry Bank Mill yesterday I sort permission from the wife to divert via the airport and was surprised at all of the work that is going on around T2.

The thing that I had not appreciated about Pier 1 is how far, at present, the gap is between the end of the structure and where it will finally join onto the terminal - truly a satellite for the time being.

The next visit will be by myself with no constraints on my wanderings and investigating.

Tower crane going up in next 2 weeks.

Melbourne avenue closing too.

Part of departure forecourt has now been demolished too.

Hopefully this will display okay but it's input from a mobile phone...

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. The news items can then be shared on the site homepage by you. #TakePart #Forums4airports Bring the news to one place!
survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
