Came across this little detail whilst googling

Cubism!

I think T2 legacy will be fully open for May fit out of security and pier 2 is well underway. Retail will take a bit longer given all the different brands with it begin such a vast space. Will be interning to see what airlines move back into the legacy check in hall once completed. I know that TUI used Zone A originally, don't think MAG are sticking with the check in island design for the legacy check in zones. I actually like it as when I few with Virgin they had all their desk next to security so it was a shorter walk.
Exciting once all completed this year. I wonder what's in plan for next 5 years? More remotes, T1 and T3 airbridges removal. Refreshing T1 and T3, maybe T1 multistorey replacement and old towers demolition!?

i`m sure I was told that the old tower would not come down unless the whole of the old T1 was pulled
down and maybe T3 as well as it is built over them both

It’s not built over T3. But given the old VCR has been abandoned for over a decade I dare say nothing will come down unless it’s in the way of something else.

What about old ops tower, assuming is abandoned, should be a fairly straightforward demolition?

Yes, more remotes are planned where the current freight sheds are.
The airbridge’s on pier C won’t be going anywhere for a while if easyJet are remaining in T1, but they should be getting removed from T3 this year.

And yes, this area just looks old and scruffy now with these older buildings sat idle!

I'm happy to be corrected but I believe the old ops tower is now occupied by airfield operations - in lieu of their portacabins.

The ops tower is now occupied by the airfield ops team indeed.
I think @Trumpington is talking about the old air traffic control tower and the tower block building.

LS@MAN - I take it there are no plans to get rid of T1 multi-storey car park? Removing and replacing that would help make the place less tired in my opinion.

Is the plan to remove all 9 airbridges from T3? I guess it makes financial sense as Ryanair won't use them but it does seem a shame to lose all of them. Do you know if there is a plan to put an Airbridge back on T2 legacy Stand 205 (due to be renumbered Stand 305/Gate D5 when the new Pier 2 stands open)?

I recently saw a map of the layout of Pier 2 on Instagram (which has since been deleted) showing the stands/airbridge layout on Pier 2 of T2. It appeared from this image that it is not part of the plan to open Stand 202 / Gate C2 with rest of the new Stands 203-215/Gates C3-C15 on Pier 2? The node for Stand 202/Gate C2 is the one closest to the Terminal building and was constructed at the same time as the B gates (remote stand bussing gates). I wondered if anyone knew why the airport are not in any rush to activate an additional contact stand in time for Summer 2025?

Many thanks in advance

.....although has been rumours of Qantas possibly coming back!?
Here in Australia there's no noise at all around Qantas to Manchester. Qantas are concentrating on launching non-stop A350 flights from Sydney to London and New York. They launched Perth-Paris last year and the only other European rumour I've heard is Rome. They seem happy to direct Manchester passengers to Emirates. So unfortunately I don't think we'll be seeing the flying kangaroo at Manchester again.

I don’t know for sure, but considering T1 is staying open for longer than intended now, it’s assumed this will remain open, minus level 13 which is closed now.

I await to be corrected, but I do believe the T3 airbridge’s will be removed this year.
Stand 205 in T2 won’t have an airbridge re-installed, but the stand will come back into use by April.
And yes, the stand 202 for pier 2 will be activated in the future, but I have no information as to when.

There will be plenty of reconfiguration of existing stands in T1/T3 during the first half of this year to maximise the stands across these areas for additional easyJet and Ryanair aircraft.

New fly through video published today :

Nice overview of the final layout. One question I do have is where is this much touted Wetherspoons going to be? The departure lounge looks pretty full with all the mentioned retail units. Only space I can think of is above the new duty free shop (underneath the existing glass atrium). Anyone aware of the plan to use this space? It would seem pointless and a waste to install a false ceiling above the duty free store and block out all that natural light unless that space was earmarked to be used for something?

Thank you so much, that's really informative. I hadn't thought about reconfiguration of existing stands but it makes sense if T1/T3 will only be used by B737 and A320 series :)

Just to add, if you have time go back to post 1561 and read the informative posts by @CCGE29 from there on

I agree the world duty free shop takes up a lot of space where the natural light could’ve been used. I believe Wetherspoons Is where the old escape lounge used to be. A lot of steel was used for the world duty free so you would think that the space above could be used. I accidentally think you could put an airline lounge in an above the boulevard but that’s just my thoughts.

Will be sad to loose all airbridges on T3. Suspect will all go on T1 in time.....Inc Pier B. Going to look pretty shabby and definitely low cost! Let hope after Pier 3, the next transformation project looks at rebuilding T1 and T3??

Not until they have completed a large apron extension as first priority, please!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
