In the latest of the cost saving techniques, the floor will indeed remain. Albeit it will be polished before the check in re-opens.

Surely the financing and the budget was already allocated and agreed so therefore the flooring was always going to be included?!

I just hope there aren’t any other unwelcome surprises…

Bridge removal works to begin this coming Monday, firstly the outer bridge on 29 followed by the inner on 31. Works to conclude at end of April.

Thanks for the info.
I imagine some of the stands in T3 will also have their airbridge’s removed at some point in the future, as a regular traveller with Ryanair from T3, I notice some stands need that bit more room for boarding outside the aircraft and it could make a difference if the airbridge’s weren’t there!

No sign of any airbridges being removed yet or Pier A and C?

Just as a reminder, as these stands have double airbridge’s, it’s only the removal of 1 airbridge at each of these two stands (29 & 31).
EasyJet will continue to use these stands in the future exclusively, once all other airlines have transferred over to T2.

Various trials have been completed so far with regards to biometrics - indeed they are now being used operationally with Aurigny. Should hear some news regarding BA next week. Move to T2 provisionally mid April. Will use bus gates whilst works conclude.

As for the stand changes, the large boards at top of the stands have now been covered up. Tug boxes at head of stands have the new stand numbers painted. Just the stand number identification boards on the AVDGS and the taxiway markings that will be changed overnight on the 19th.

Been watching some you tube streams from the airport recently and you can clearly see the stand number yellow boards at legacy T2 covered up now, do they plan to add the new stand numbers to these boards or can we expect another cost cutting measure…

Will the all the other double airbridges remain on Pier C after this 2 x stands become singletons? Might as well make them all singletons for A320/21s? Squeeze in some extra stands? Assuming Pier B A380 bridges will be retired after they move to T2 too?

It’s only stands 29 & 31 that are slightly in the way of the new dual taxiway so hence the reason two of the airbridge’s here are being removed.
I think it will be very tight to squeeze in extra stands on pier C, it will only be easyJet using that pier after June if all goes to plan.
It was mentioned on this forum a while ago the two airbridge’s on stand 12 will remain, you can have two A320/A321 on these stands (12L & 12R) either by steps or airbridge.
It was also mentioned I think that the east side of pier B will be used by both easyJet and Ryanair (stands 1, 5, 7, 9, 11 & 15).

Stand 29 has now closed for the outer bridge to be removed. Removal start of next week, stand to re-open with the one remaining bridge in operation on the 4th April.

Stands 44R & 47 close on the 24th for demolition works on the link bridge/stub of the old airbridge on 47 and will also reopen on the 4th April. Later in April final works will be carried out to allow stand 47 to accommodate 7M8 aircraft.

T1 stands on the eastern side of B pier are already being used for T3 aircraft albeit as remotes at the moment with bussed arrivals in evenings or as remote parking after the aircraft is towed from T3.

Thanks as always for your valuable info.
Is the work on stand 18 planned yet or can we expect that for later in the year?

Ref the cost cutting measures on the MAN TP, it’s quite ironic given MAG have announced that management are now scrimping on expenditure!
I hope we can expect these savings to be allocated to other projects on site like improvements to T1/T3!

After landing in MAN last week and during the taxiing from 23R to pier 1 whilst it was dark, it was noticeable how light the apron and terminals areas are around T1, T3 and the new pier 1, but the western apron and T2 looks very dull with the old style (pre LED) lighting.
I hope these apron lights will also be replaced?!

The west apron lighting is not being replaced in the immediate future as many of the stands will not see the end of the summer. Stands 62-68 and 82/237 will all disappear mid-summer. The lighting is however due for replacement in the middle (Stands 80L/R/81L/R231L/R/233/235) which will remain albeit slightly re-configured with the rear of stand road moving to the head of stand. Initial works are ongoing and due for completion late April. Full reconfiguration planned for later in the summer.

Thanks for the info.
I assume also a replacement of the current lighting for the legacy T2 stands? 300 series as they are now…

As for the Manchester sign lighting replacement, I believe this isn’t happening anytime soon as all of the letters would need their lights replacing and not just one at a time…shame really but a reality.

From this week. A bit out of sequence due to this forums software!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
